Well, he was the captain of the Ragstopper. Didn't it sink? Your calling forth of that name, however, jogs my memory into place - I should have used that line of reasoning to rule him out.

Keneb got Spinner of Death for the lie he spun about disease being on the ships. Remember when Fid's running through the city, hears the cries of "Plague!" and mentally congratulates Keneb on his clever ruse.
Grub's Orb, Sceptre, and Crown are the three Nachts with Withal, referring to their nest building, shrug, that ones weak.
T'amber gets the Virgin of HHDeath because of the parallels you can draw from Sorry/Apsalar. Both were possessed, both were crazy good killers, and both killed tons of Claw trying to get the Adjunct out of the city.
I take Fiddler getting Soldier of Life referring to him being a soldier and his reasons thus, as revealed during his fiddleplaying scene.

Crust was the captain of Ragstopper, its revealed at the end when Tavore gives him 200 gold imperials, and Bottle's like, "Crust? wtf?" and its hinted at during the captains brief POV.

Sorry if these have been mentioned already, didn't bother reading the entire thread.

Nice one! I never connected Spinner of Death with the quarantine story.

Do we know the Nachts are still with Withal though? And why would Grub be meeting them? They're just some birds or whatever they are.

The Nachts are supposed to be really buffed up... bhokaral? Crap, I've forgotten the names of the winged monkeys from Seven Cities. Anyway, they resemble them, only much more heavily built, and they are the 'friends' Grub was going to meet when he jumped off the ship - I imagine they helped him out the water, and whatnot. They joined Withal, Sandalath and the other Andii at the end.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

I didn't realise that Nachts were Bhokaral, I always imagined them as mini-pterodactyls. I thought they were birds rather than monkeys.

Those were the scavengers on the CG's beach that Withal saw when we first saw him (the whole sword for the CG part). The Nachts came after.

Anyone think that Sandalath Drukorlat could be Korlat's great great grandma or something?

Consensus is that they are mother and daughter.

It'll be an interesting meeting, being reunited with the mother who died over 300,000 years ago.

T'amber can't be a virgin in actuality, she was a concubine in the Queen of Dream's temple.

Also, aaronsan, I am almost positive that Cartheron Crust is not Traveller. Their descriptions don't match up; he may have been the one that ferried the people off of Drift Avalii (imagine that reunion), but he certainly does not hold Vengeance.

Crap! I meant "Foreigner," not "Traveler."

You know, the other guy at the bar that Banaschar (sp) meets, besides Braven Tooth?

That turned out to be Crust, right?

And note I didn't say "Cartheron," because I wasn't sure which Crust. Just, based on Bottle's statement and the reaction, that Foreigner IS one of the Crusts.

Right?

Foreigner was Withal from MT.

Cartheron Crust is "Captain" from DG, and he made a reappearance in BH as Captain again. SE seems to have muddled things a bit in the book, because several people now have read BH and come out of it with the idea that Foreigner is Cartheron Crust, when they actually just appear in close proximity in the book.

Remember that Foreigner earned his name because he was genuinely foreign to Malaz City, the capital of a world-spanning empire. The Crust brothers are Napans, and so they wouldn't really be considered foreigners (the Empress is a Napan after all).

Foreigner is Withal after he escapes from the crippled gods realm, evidence for that being the description of his hands when he gets onto the malzan ship near the end of BH.
Cartheron Crust was the captain the takes kalam to malaz city in DG, he's also the captain that takes foreigner/withal onto the malazan ship, where fiddler recognises him.
