Well, what was it that he fought for so long in Ugarat? he went into the castle to negotiate with the Malazans that were supposedly under siege there and ran into some weird beast that he fought for quite a while... i figured that was the Champion.. if not, then what was that and where did it come from?

Lets get this straight - the Champion of the Beast Hold is the pure-blood Thelomen Tartheno Toblakai with an en'karal soul, last seen in HoC. Karsa has never encountered it.
