If amazon uk has shifted back to May 7 ( which indeed they have) then you can be sure that it will not come out sooner than that, anywhere. Their projections are often very optimistic ( even though usually based on publisher info) but they are never too pessimistic.

Just noticed the knock-on effect of this is that Night of Knives (the cover for which is done) will now be out on 4 June 2007. The Bonehunters mass-market paperback remains at 2 April however.

Well Bantam's official date when we received the prologue from them was April 2007. Clearly that has now changed to sometime in May, and considering what happened with Bonehunters, I wouldn't be all that surprised if things get pushed back even further actually. And this time around I actually remember a conversation with Hetan around the time we got the prologue that there was re-write in process of some minor things nothing to big though. I don't know anymore nor do I actually care much the novel will come out whenever the publisher decides to release...its a piss off but meh what are we gonna do*sigh*

But every indication here has been that the book is finished - what further hold up could there be?

What is the best way to get the book in the States? I also want Night of Knives, but I'm not sure if I can order from Amazon.uk

lol aye there is that possibility actually. I bet you the reason will be "the cover isn't ready";)

BH was finished a year before its release:p they probably just feel like it

And Dark Mac, the Canadian date's have probably just not changed yet. UK always gets it first

They feel like it? lol I really don't know. They made us wait the better part of a year for Bonehunters for no reason whatsoever their initial 4month delay was explained and imo justifiable even...but their subsequent delays were by no means justified they just kept pushing it back and back and back...and ba...u get the picture.

I have ordered every copy of the malazan books I have from amazon.co.uk. They take a little while to get state side, but it's well worth it.

Hi guys,

Well, in this case the postponement is probably justified. I know each and everyone of you will want to kill me, but Transworld is sending me a copy of the manuscript.;) Steven's editor has agreed to give me an "early read." But I've been told that some changes may occur, as the novel is not yet ready to go into production.

These are quite likely only minor details, but it could explain why the release date was pushed back. In any event, one month is nothing, really. Meanwhile, I'll let you know if I hear anything from Steven's publicist.

Aye as I said there were some minor changes in the works...but this was around the time we got the prologue, which was quite a while back. Oh well...we'll get the cover art soon enough that should keep us occupied for a day or two

I would say it will keep us occupied for a week tbh
I have stolen princesses from sleeping barrow kings
I have burned the town of Trebon
I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life
I was expelled from the University at a younger age most people are allowed in
I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day
I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make minstrels cry
You may have heard of me....

I can just picture the countless threads debating the closeness between how the Edur's skin tone on the cover matches their own peconceptions....

As for the necessity for changes, it wasn't a while back. I was informed of this on the week before Christmas. Don't know if that's the case, but it does appear that some details are not set in stone, or were not before the Holidays.

In any case, a delay of a month in the publishing world is nothing. Which means that nothing major has occurred. . .

I'm curious to see the cover art myself!;)
