The thing I love about Bone is that at first glance it seems a goofy, silly, fun comic, and it is- stupid, stupid rat creatures - but as it goes on it becomes more and more apparent that it's epic and heartwarming and sad and tense and frightening and generally full of awesomeness.

Truly.

the way he breaks up some of the serious situations

Just finished Mike Carey's "Lucifer." Holy balls, what a series. Easily one of the best comic series I've ever read.

Speaking of Carey, anyone know when his next "Felix Castor" book comes out?

Huh, a very well written article about BEFORE WATCHMEN (and general DC and Marvel crappiness). It's hard to argue with the columnists logic.

Brilliant series. I read it after Sandman - having read the second volume as a kid and leaving very, very confused - a couple of years back and I'd say I actually enjoyed it more. Felt like heresy at the time, but in retrospect, I think I'm sticking with it. Don't quite understand why

but I might be due a re-read ^_^

I dunno. I found the whole "I'm not going to see The Avengers because Marvel's promoting the characters as theirs and not Kirby's" to be a bit...well, silly, to put it politely.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Oh, you're absolutely right SMZ. His reactions to the situations are silly and they don't stand up to much. Boycotting is not the answer as it would never work...and doing nothing is...well, doing nothing.

What I liked about the post is how he very succinctly sums up what is wrong with the whole Moore and Before Watchmen thing and how SO many people really do just turn a blind eye to what's happening behind the scenes....provided we get what we want...The comments prove that mentality even further. Comic fans will be nothing if not apathetic about the plight of creative property. It's an extension of the GRRM is not your bitch convo actually...since the reaction by so-called fans is similar...it's a "screw the creator's rights and needs....provided someone gives us the goods and right now."

I'm less sure about the whole Marvel thing, but he makes the point stick about the way Marvel treated the creative force behind their entire line. Kirby is not really revered so much as chuckled about....he signed a bad contract...bad on him...

...but I'm here to question the bad contract as well. I don't think Corporations should get a pass for being dicks...just because they made it legal to be dicks.

Oh and the 6th Felix Castor book was SUPPOSED to be out late last year...but wasn't. I've not even heard a title yet. Carey is a busy guy though so who knows. I'd hope its this year myself, but it might not be.

Begun catching up on the DCNu with JUSTICE LEAGUE.

Phenomenal art.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

I have to geek out a moment to note how thoroughly awesome it was to
a) see the Guardians of the Galaxy in the Avengers cartoon,
:D have them include Rocket Racoon and
c) watch him shoot the Hulk in the face repeatedly.

I'll even forgive the Australian accent.

Been working way my through the entire "Hellblazer" run. It's weird. Sometimes very awesome weird and sometimes just awful weird. The first run with Jamie Delano was terrible and I seriously thought about dropping the title. Luckily the Garth Ennis run came along and saved the series for me. I'm now in the Paul Jenkins run and it's good.

It's funny, but the BEST stuff for John Constantine for me was his periphery stuff in Alan Moore's SWAMP THING, and Neil Gaiman's SANDMAN...I find they made him compelling and mysterious without getting too bogged down in the plot arcs.

Never was fond of the main line of comics for HELLBLAZER though.

What little I've read of Ellis' brief run was good too - shame it got cut short by the Shoot controversy.

I like Carey's run a lot. But it'll be difficult for anyone to ever top Ennis (and for my money Ennis hasn't topped it either with any of his later works, or even come especially close from what I've read though I do like Punisher Max and The Boys and I've not read much of Hitman).
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

just bought DC Birds of Prey #9, was choosing between Supergirl, Batgirl or any Batman titles, in the end BoP is the one i got, and a Supergirl ish at sale,
this is the 1st time i bought floppies, right now i'm considering buying graphic novels/paperbacks, but its so pricey,

a little question, why didn't they include huntress in the reboot?
i know oracle is now currently the batgirl, but couldn't they have included huntress, i like black canary but i like huntress more,
but i will still continue to read BoP, even if Night of Owls will conclude on another, that's one of the things i hated in DC/Marvel, all this cross-overs, to finish it, you MUSt buy every ish available,
so you know what will happen, but i won't, i'll just continue and move-on,
It's not who I am underneath.. but what i do that defines me - Batman, Batman Begins; 'Without our deaths, sir, there would be no crime. Thus, no punishment to match,' 'Mortal Sword - '
'We are done, my friend. Now, in this manner, we choose the meaning of our deaths' - Mortal Sword Brukhalian to Veteran Nilbanas, siege of Capustan
'Ippen shinde miru (want to try dying this once) ?' - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

You should be reading BATMAN (Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo), it is THE BEST title in the entire DCnu reboot.

As far as THE HUNTRESS, the reason she's not in BoP is that she had her own title in the DCNu. It ran 6 issues from Oct 2011 to Mar 2012...but then she was part of the first cuts DC made to their reboot I believe so she no longer has an ongoing.

I think the main issue is that everything she was doing in her title, both Catwoman and Batgirl and especially Batwoman were doing better (with better writers) in their on-goings...kind of making Huntress redundant.
