Ugh.

Every now and again I wonder if I devote too much time and money specifically to DC...and I'll pick up a Marvel comic...last month it was UNCANNY AVENGERS...which was meh....and yesterday it was ALL NEW X-MEN....which was also meh.

Sigh.

Overall, I gotta admit, Marvel NOW! is not exactly bringing the WOW!

I picked up the latest drops yesterday, but only read INDESTRUCTIBLE HULK #2. A lot of Banner and very little Hulk. Which I find compelling at this point, given how they're handling it.

And again, the next UNCANNY AVENGERS was slated to drop, but didn't. What's up with this title? Something vaguely ominous about Marvel NOW's flagship title being constantly delayed.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

That may be where DC is winning hardest...using "backups" and swapping in artists every few issues, makes NO late books. There have been no late books in the New 52 at all. That's a big step, when I know Marvel has been having some frequent delays.

Transformers MTMTE 12 came out yesterday. Fantastic issue. Bit of a little nerd-rage over implied Transformer homosexuality. Rewind and Chromedome. '87 toys. Kudos for anyone who remembered them.

I saw the spoiler previews for that: holy crap! I should probably start picking up MtMtE; I've heard nothing but good things about it, and Roberts' Last Stand of the Wreckers was nothing short of phenomenal.

Actually, Chromedome's a car, but yep.

Meh, considering they came from a society that WAS once biological, it's not a huge stretch to believe they'd have the remnants of such emotions...even though Transformers don't procreate that way, or engage in any sexual acts...they do still have friendship, so it's feasible. Just my humble opinion tho.

From the Transformer's Wiki on Romance in the TF society:

Some will vehemently refuse to admit it exists. Others really don't care about the brand beyond it. Regardless of opinions, Transformers engaging in or pursuing interaction of a romantic nature is a well-established element in pretty much every continuity. For the most part, Transformers are observed searching for romantic partners amongst their own kind, but attraction to organic lifeforms and even non-living objects has been documented as well.

Some wonder why a species that likely does not reproduce sexually would participate in behavior that in other creatures exists as a means to promote sex and thereby new life. While a definitive answer to this has yet to be given, the question as to why Transformers become romantically involved with one another can be approached from a different angle. Transformers are a highly social species. This is shown through their very human-like society, interpersonal interactions, familial relationships, and even the fairly common practice of merging bodies and minds. If these are not frowned upon, then why should social connections of the romantic kind be regarded much differently, if at all? Perhaps there is no reason for them to engage in romance, but then there is equally no reason for them not to.

There is no 100% proof that the IDW G1 Transformers came from a society that was biological.

Jetfire in Revelation theorised that they evolved from biologics like Gorlam Prime
The MTMTE Annual implied Divine/God-like creation.
Th RID annual implied evolution of natural pulleys and levers.

An informed TF comics debate on the Malazan boards? I am so turned on right now.

All well and good, but back in the original cartoon Alpha Trion made the first three female autobots essentially so the old pervert could watch Optimus, Inferno and Ironhide 'interface' or whatever they called it.

And in the original Marvel comics, TFs had no gender at all.

Way to narrow your "canon" window so you can have that argument.

LOL.

Enjoy that POV sir. :)

I am simultaneously laughing at the TF geekery, nostalgic for the 80s cartoons and toys, and jealous I don't know enough to join into the debate.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Considering that I was the one who brought up the debate for the context of a single specific continuity....what did you expect?
Its like bringing up the Batman '66 film in the context of a Batman & Dracula: Red Rain debate. Irrelevant. Mostly anyway.

Yeah, I guess so.

Just seems...pointless to get annoyed by it I guess?

But then you said ALMOST it made you nerd rage, so I'll allow it.

I don't get you 100%. Are you saying I almost got annoyed over our little argument on cannon here or the implied homosexuality?
Not much to the first and not at all to the second.

Then we're good.

But yeah, the second.

Why do you always think everyone is fighting with ya?
