I enjoyed the Star Wars Tales and Star Wars Infinities collections. I read a couple of the Star Wars Invasion TPBs recently, and those were decent too. But that's about the extent of my Star Wars comics experience, so I'm by no means well-read on this topic. Even with the novels, I'm about 6 years behind...

Oh yeah how could I have forgotten about Infinities? Those are definitely a must-read, and are available in omnibus.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Agree TALES is great...and the one with Maul's face on the cover (can't remember the exact vol #) contains probably my fave standlone SW tale in which there is a haunting meeting of a couple of greats.
Oh, and I liked the more recent DARTH VADER & THE LOST COMMAND...because it keeps another side to the Dark Lord going, in which he is absolutely tormented by the past by dreaming of an alternate timeline in which he didn't go bad, and he and Padme raised Luke & Leia themselves.

It's not who I am underneath.. but what i do that defines me - Batman, Batman Begins; 'Without our deaths, sir, there would be no crime. Thus, no punishment to match,' 'Mortal Sword - '
'We are done, my friend. Now, in this manner, we choose the meaning of our deaths' - Mortal Sword Brukhalian to Veteran Nilbanas, siege of Capustan
'Ippen shinde miru (want to try dying this once) ?' - Jigoku Shoujo (Hell Girl)

If you like Venom, you should pick up his on-going solo series. Rick Remender (who has written some great stuff, maybe my third favorite writer right now) wrote the first 22 issue and wrote one of most powerful single issue stories I have ever read in #22. Great stuff.

Definitely, Rick Remender's Venom had a brilliant start and a touching finish.
For Deadpool there are Daniel Way's Deadpool Volumes 1-3 (Secret Invasion, Dark Reign, X Marks the Spot) are all gold. Volume 4 (Hit-Monkey) was shit, avoid. The rest was good/alright.

Speaking of both Deadpool and Remender, the best 'pool I've read in recent memory was Remender's run on UXF. Far superior to anything Way's ever done. Remender had a handle on the character that most other writers can only dream of.

I rocketed through Hellboy, BPRD, Abe Sapien, Lobster Johnson and everything else. It's amazing. The Mignola-universe is terrific in how it incorporates new artists, new writers and new editors almost seamlessly. One of the best creative team-efforts anywhere.
I'm sitting on a huge pile of comics though.
Dial H continues to be excellent as well.
I also finished Ex Machina (10 trades in the shelf next to me) and found it to be kind of naive in terms of actual national politics, but fairly good in dealing with the mayoral and "real people" stuff. I wouldn't rank it as one of the all time greats, but it's very good. Kinda like Y: The Last Man for me. Maybe I'm just not a Vaughan fan. Actually, that's probably it. Vaughan doesn't do it for me, which is a shame, since he does it for so many others.

Just caught up on Uncanny Avengers, mostly because it apparently continued some storylines from Uncanny X-Force but partly because of Havoc's speech in issue five. It is a great story, with great characterization as I have come to expect from Rick but the speech in issue five was way off base. X-men for a very long time has been an effective metaphor for minorities in the USA and for the kid who gets bullied because they like reading during recess, basically any 'outcast' out there. As a minority it is why I became such a fan. To see Havoc's call for assimilation, a problem I face often being a First Nation, it makes me cringe. The only way assimilation would work if everyone was equal in society, for mutants it is clearly not. Normal people don't have giant robots chasing them, or have literally just come back from near-extinction. My people went through a forced assimilation and it's a touchy subject for me, but I honestly believe Remender could have at least researched some minorities views on the subject, instead of saying 'labels are wrong' especially since it's a label the people use for themselves. It's the difference between Eskimo and Inuit. One's a slur the other a self given identity. I'm also wary of Havoc being the spokesman for mutant rights since he can pass as human, wear others such as the Murlocks, cannot. Too often do we see this in the real world with women rights or the rights of gays, the Western view is held above all others while people from different societies are doing important work and are often ignored.
To say I'm disappointed is an understatement. Rick Remender wrote one those things in fiction that just 'got' me and my life experience. Venom 22 got so much things about abuse right, they way rage is passed on just as much as genetics, the crippling days in between when you thinks it's over forever, the self-loathing when you start believing you are in the wrong--that you deserve it, they way one parent will often stick up for the abuser to comes to terms with their own abuse. I guess it's my fault to think that he as a creator would create everything to reflect my own experience but this is a pretty big leap in the traditional X-Men theme for integration (which I'll point is not assimilation, pretty much the exact opposite) and the character of Alex Summer. Another thing is strange: the handling of the Scarlet Witch and Cyclops, both had similar experiences and while the Scarlet Witch is absolved (by the Avengers, who of course don't have the right) the other is a fugitive on the run? Doesn't really make sense and unless RR is going for long game commentary on how minorities are often split and favoured by the people who hold the social power I just find the Avengers to be big old hypocrites
I still have hope though, it is a great story as previously said and it does continue story arcs from Uncanny X-Force. Also in a interview RR said the speech was part of long character arc for Havoc, and along with some the excellent criticism the speech got I think Alex will see that Cyclops wasn't that far off.

plowing through many Marvel titles now and hopefully i could catch-up on ALL the Marvel Now! titles, as there are some i would very much like to continue, either in floppies or trades,
i'm officially a Marvel Zombie now,,
still pissed with the cancellation of Red She-Hulk, well its been fun while it lasted, only 1 issue to go, and i'll trade-wait for Route 616,,
i am continuing on my Hulk fever,, don't know why, but i have been a Hulk fan even before Avengers movie, though i haven't been reading much of his books,, but i will try to catch-up,,
i plowed through the whole World War Hulks storyline, Fall of the Hulks: Savage She-Hulks and planning to read the rest of Fall of the Hulks, Planet Hulk, Dark Son and Incredible Hulks,,
also read Ultimate Human: Ultimate Hulk vs Iron Man, also even though i have not read the entire Dark Reign storyline, i have read Dark Reign The List: Hulk
read the whole Heralds storyline. it wasn't that much of a read, the art leaves much to be desired, and the only thing i loved here is the She-Hulk, Hellcat and Valkyrie,
been reading a few Avengers Assemble, and i'm starting to like Spider-Woman/Jessica Drew, will continue this on floppies and trades and i'll search for Spider-woman's TPBs,,
also i haven't read the whole AvX, only a few. maybe i'll finish this, but i am not happy about this one, and i will not be satisfied with this, although it's outcome is the new A+X and Uncanny Avengers,,
Marvel Now!
A+X 1 & 2,
All New X-Men 1 & 2, let Jean Grey STAY DEAD,,
Captain America,
Deadpool 1 & 2 - this i like!!
Fantastic Four & FF - it's good to see a good Mr Fantastic again (never liked the Ultimates Mr Fantastic)
Fearless Defenders - love me some Valkyrie and Moonstar
Indestructible Hulk - don't know about the Hulk getting armor but i will continue this just to satisfy my Hulk read,,
Iron Man 1 & 2 - in comics, Iron Man is a little, well, unlikeable, i really love IM movies, but in his own title i dont,, and that is why i'm a little apprehensive if i would read Civil War, from much of what i've been hearing talk about IM/Tony Stark in it,,
Journey into Mistery 646: Featuring Sif, always loved Sif and Brunnhilde, will there be a trade for this, 'cause i'll get this one,,
Thor: God of Thunder, i like it when his comics feature him only in asgard, in Avengers in midgard and others, like space,,
Uncanny Avengers 1 & 2 - i still don't like it even now that they depowered Rogue, and its good that they brought Scarlet Witch, but as i recall in House of M/Decimation? that she almost depopulated and annihilated the entire mutants in MCU, the "No More Mutants" but still its nice for them to bring her back,,
Wolverine & the X-men 19, 20 & 21, i want more from Kitty Pride and not just as a headmistress but as an active X-man,,
looking forward to reading the rest of Marvel Now! Venom and the all girls X-Men,,
@Studlock - anyday now, i'll be reading that same ish, and from what i hear and read about that one, maybe i will also not like it, but i hope he really wouldn't go down the same path as his brother Cyclops,, here's hoping,,

So Neil Gaiman is apparently penning the last issue of AGE OF ULTRON over at Marvel...with his return to DC/Vertigo and the SANDMAN prelude....this is likely the most Gaiman has worked in comics since the early noughties.
Crazyness.
And now I have to read bloody AGE OF ULTRON. Sigh.

Justice League 3000.
DC is replacing Legion of Super Heroes with something called Justice League 3000.
Go ahead and google it. I don't want to prejudice anyone's reaction.
...But unless Andre 3000 is both member and chairperson and archvillain, i am wholly unimpressed.

It's Justice League 2099! Oh, wait.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
