It's not that bad, Illy.

In fact the last 3 or 4 comics have actually been surprisingly work safe (except for a small penis here and there)

It's to lull you into a false sense of security and then FACEFUCKING EVERYWHERE AND OH GOD WHY IS MY BOSS LOOKING SO ANGRY
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

It is perfectly monstrous the way people go about nowadays saying things against one, behind one's back, that are absolutely and entirely true.

Seconding Sinfest and Gunnerkrigg above. Gunnerkrigg is especially fun for the writer's ability to trust the audience and not go out of his way to explain everything.

Sluggy Freelance. www.sluggy.com It starts (years ago) with Satan traped in a computer and before you're caught up, no sf sacred goat is spared. Also answers the burning question about what happens when you cut a vampire's head off and then stuff its ass with garlic. Includes aliens, demons, BFG lasers, alternate dimensions (OF PAIN!) and occassionally ninjas.

Errant Story - www.errantstory.com - it's borderline steampunk high fantasy widget quest. Artist does a REALLY sweet action scene and moves things nicely along. And elf ninjas vs mercs with guns is good funs.

Once upon a time i enjoyed www.wanderingones.com - It is a neat post apocalyptic semi-military series with elements of native myth, psi powers, nature vs civilization and ninjas on motorbikes. The pace of updates has really slowed down but there's a huge archive so worth a look if you're looking to waste a few hours on generally quality storytelling.

I'm reading Morrison's JLA arc, and while i really enjoyed the opening 3-4 issues it's a bit all over the place now.

I'm going back and catching up on Star Wars related comics...

KNIGHTS OF THE OLD REPUBLIC...I love the time period (giant fan of the games), but the main character is kinda dumb. Why do SW heroes tend to be such tards?

TALES OF THE JEDI: THE GOLDEN AGE OF THE SITH...again, love the backstory, but the heroes here are even dumber than in KOTOR...and that's pretty fncking dumb. No surprise, written by Kevin J. "yes, really ANYBODY can do this" Anderson.

STAR WARS INFINTIES: A NEW HOPE...now, here's something different. What if, after all the letting go and trusting in the Force, Luke Skywalker makes his money shot at the Death Star...and the torpedoes malfunction. How would the movies have played out then? THAT is an interesting concept to play with.

Also SW related, is X-WING ALLIANCE: THE ADVENTURES OF ACE AZZAMEEN, available on the Web. Some random guy using screen shots from the game and some repainted action figures, making a Web comic. For what it is, it's pretty good.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Sinfest is pretty great.
We sail in and out of Time, then back again. There is only one ship, the captain says. All the ships we hail between the galaxies or suns are this ship.

@ ansible - I'm sure you're aware that your name is an anagram of "lesbian"... Just checking...

Okay, so The Sword has finished in as satisfying a way as it was ever going to I suppose. That's not to say I didn't like the ending, merely to say that I didn't like it all that much...

Siege was very meh! I'm not sure I can care about Marvel's Event comics at the moment. Same with DC, come to think of it; I may have been the only person to enjoy Final Crisis but at least it attempted to do something - with varying amounts of success depending on the reader. Nobody appears to be even trying at the moment.

Jonathan Hickman's SHIELD is both complex and gorgeous looking, which probably means it'll die a death soon enough. But if it does, he can get around to finishing off his creator-owned A Red Mass for Mars which is salvaging something out of the mess as far as I'm concerned (I think that last issue is like 2 or 3 years overdue, I've no idea what the problem is...)
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Bertrand Russell

Oh, and if you want the personification of Not Work Safe, there's Oglaf. The NSFWness of this comic cannot be stated enough.

Just browsed the archive at home.

:)

Awesome! Have you heard the rumours it's written by a lady? Me likes :)

Yes, i'm afraid you were. Talky Tawny the Tiger took out Kalibek. Credibility over. And that's before Superman sang Darkseid to death.

But Nightwing as Batman with Damien as Robin is having some fun at least.

Which?

I liked EverydayDecay but it dragged and then it staggered and then it fell over and died of author disinterest.
TheZombiehunters is fun when it moves but OMG sloooooooooow. I swear the characters spent six months in a dull meeting before anything interesting actually happened. When your webcomic dull boardroom meeting is dull, something is going horribly wrong.

So i made it all the way through the Morrison JLA run and now i understand why Final Crisis turfed so badly. Given too much space to maneuver, Morrison tries to develop his mad crazy ideas beyond one square of comic book science and next thing y'know the Emperor has no clothes. Thank god Waid took over.

Yup - those ar the one. Everyday Decay was great but it won't be back I think.

Ditto the Zombie Hunters crawling along......

Maybe we should all do one

Just picked up Warren Ellis' RED. If an Ellis story is going to be made into a movie, i NEEDS to read it first. Bonus, it comes with TOKYO STORM WARNING which i've been wanting to read for a while, because Ellis writing mega-mecha vs giant monsters in neo-Tokyo can only be braincandy.

It's not one of his best. Not that it's not good, it's just really really slight, even for a comic of its length. They've obviously had to hugely pad out for the film, so it's very different.

A guy I know actually has a cameo appearance in the latest issue of Batman and Robin He's a friend of the artist who put him in there for a laugh and he's been showing everyone who comes into his comic shop. He is fairly impressed with the fact that he's now canon within the DC Universe...

I got about halfway through all the Blackest Night titles before realizing I didn't know enough about the Lantern books before starting. So, I've gone back...

Just finished GREEN LANTERN: SECRET ORIGIN, which was a pretty painless intro to Hal Jordan's GL, written by Geoff Johns (who's writing I follow around with a vengeance), and I have GREEN LANTERN: REBIRTH and GREEN LANTERN: NO FEAR on deck.

It's really crazy how I used to be a big Marvel fan, but then after fiasco's like House OF M and Civil War I was put off...not to mention Ultimates 3 and the new series too, and for some reason a series that never used to let me down (X-Men titles) have been doing so recently. ....and DC has become my bread and butter.

That said, Marvel RUNAWAYS is still consistently fun to read and hasn't stopped being enjoyable.

I just started reading The Walking Dead and so far I'm liking it with some reservations (my reviews to Volume 1 and Volume 2). I can see myself getting bored with it pretty quickly unless Kirkman changes something.
