Oh, I didn't even realise Waid wrote that story (it's not the end of Morrison's run, but he needed a fill-in for some reason which Waid did. There's more Morrison coming). That was a good one.
I can't carry it for you, but I can carry you.

Yeah, I was REALLY impressed by it. It wasn't a BIRTHRIGHT-level emotional journey for me, but close.

Black Science vol 6 came in today. I fully plan to chew through it tonight.

Edit: aaand done. Holy crap, this just turned into an insane clusterfuck of really bad things all happening at once. I'm totally waiting to see your reaction Abyss.

Noted. May get the e version this time.

Got it, read it, Holy Dimensiofuck.

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

SPOILERS

ALL OF BLACK SCIENCE UP TO INCLUDING TPB VOL 7 SPOILERS

MASSIVE TRANSDIMENSIONAL SPOILERS

Wow.

Just wow.

...i mean, coming off the last two collections, which were slightly narrower and more personal to a smaller set of the cast, i was expecting something epic this time, but even so.

The League of Interdimensional Awesome Anarchist Scientists...

The Witch...

The gas parasites...

The Nihilist lizard people...

ALL AT ONCE???!?!?!?!?!??! Damn Remender... dude went BIG.

I'm pretty sure superhero Nate isn't Pia's 'real' Nate, just a close dimensional version who is likely to die shortly.

Did Pia just take in Grant's intelligence??? DAMN...

I loved how Grant, in the midst of an absolutely bugnuts chase scene (that this series does so well) call his wife, does the whole 'i love you and you just have to trust me' thing and she hangs up on him.

Kadir's very public implosion was deservedly ugly.

Wow, that Witch turned out to be NASTY. I loved how she just annihilated the heroes just as they were about the nuke the parasites across the dimensions.

Love this series.

I have been waiting for this ever since I finished it. I agree with you about Nate.

I'm surprised you haven't commented on the most powerful hate-boner of all time...

Finished Doom Patrol book 1 and Final Crisis by Morrison, both so good! Although I think once I'm more versed in the DC universe I will like Final Crisis even more on a reread. On MU, working my through Brubaker's Captain America, which is excellent so far and Busiek's Avengers, which is good, but a bit dated.

And on a comics related note, I picked up a Samsung Chromebook Plus which is an incredible comics reader. The 12.3" screen resolution is almost as good as the new iPad Pro, and at a much lower price I highly recommend it.

I'm pretty sure that TV show has been in the works for like 5 years, is there finally a pilot showing up? Yes, I am too lazy to check the link. I'm sorry.

Also, for me, I'm re-reading Dial H, by China Mieville. Good stuff. I'm also having a re-read of Superheavy (Batman). Apparently, a lot of people hated it, but I found the villain, a chap called Mr. Bloom, quite refreshing for standard DC/Marvel comic material, although a bit too derivative of the Joker in the Dark Knight in many ways, especially later. Which is a shame, because I thought they could have really tread some very interesting ground with that plot.

I've been hitting the MarvelMeth again lately and reading on a couple of their more recent runs: The Unworthy Thor and Infamous Ironman.

Thor has great art and a 3/5 story for me. It centers on the Odinson after the loss of his hammer to Ladythor. After spending an unknown amount of time drunk and depressed he hears rumors of an alternate hammer appearing ownerless and decides to make himself worthy again and claim it. Others hear about it a decide to try to claim it for their own. Conflict occurs.

The real gem is Ironnan though. After the events of Secret Wars and Civil War 2 a repentant Dr Doom picks up the Ironman mantle and tries to find a sense of fulfillment he has always felt missing - even ad God Emperor Doom - by trying to help change the world for the better. Great art and a solid story (so far).

This sounds... suspiciously similar to the Superior Spiderman plotline. I wish they didn't make these temporary; in a lot of ways, I almost feel like the comic world would benefit from a permanent shakeup like those.

Except for the ending - which was ok - SUPERIOR SPIDER-MAN was great fun, read as a complete story on the MarvelMeth ( It also led really well into SPIDERVERSE, which was stupid awesome comic fun)' but it was never meant to last. The core concept of Doc Ock replacing Spidey and doing a better job of it was great, but could never become the status quo.
Same goes for Doc IronDoom. That said, I will totally read it when it's done.

Just started reading The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina which is a very dark take on Sabrina the Teenage Witch. The first volume was interesting and I would recommend it if you're looking for something in the horror genre.

Also looking for thoughts on Saga and whether or not it is worth reading.

SAGA is literally in the top 3 ongoing comics right now (along with other excellence like EAST OF WEST)...it is MORE than worth your time and money.

I don't like Vaughn much. So I don't think Saga is as good as what else is out there. You may have a different opinion.
I survived the Permian and all I got was this t-shirt.

I'm solidly on the 'dear gods yes you should read SAGA immediately' side of the fence.

It's awesome... nicely original at times (there are some tropes some times but overall the storyline doesn't come across as familiar), beautifully drawn (seriously some of the full page spreads are jawdropping), well written (Great dialogue, characters have distinct voices, motives make sense (usually) ), and the story really draws you in.

Good to know on the Saga front. I'm headed to the comic shop after work so I'll pick up the first few volumes.

Big Marvel sale on until 9/7. On Comixology it's buy one get one free. On Amazon it's 50% off. Probably going to pick up Punisher and Fury Max since it's not on MU.
