Every so often someone will start a thread looking for a book, or just rying to remember the title to something they read long ago. i figured, instead ofa new thread popping up every time that happens, why not have one thread where people can try to track down books from the past? (Insert applause here.)

Here's the first one. I don't remember much about this book, as it was years ago that I read it. I could possibly be a young adult fantasy. I don't even remember if it was good or not. All I remember is that there were these women warriors, and if they were in moonlight their shadow would become some sort of a twin warrior woman from another dimension or something. Also, they may have had long braided hair that they strangled people with. Any ideas?

Hmmm. It seems this thread is a bust. What a blow to the ego, starting a new thread and no one comes.

Well, I described the book I was trying to remember as vaguely as humanly possible. Let the games begin.

Actually, why would you even want to track this book back down again?

Everybody knows women suck at fighting. And basketball. And picking party music.

Focus: make this a sticky and every now and then someone'll put something up on it. The stick lets it stay visible while lessening the effect of infrequent posting.

I'm not really THAT interested in finding this particular book or reading it again, I just wanted to remember the title. The main purpose for the thread though was to eliminate the individual threads that pop up when people are looking for a book. This way, all those people can just post in one thread. As for making it sticky, I have no idea how that would be done. At least no idea that can be mentioned in mixed company.

Actually, there was a book i read a couple of years ago, something about magicians and how there was a magicians guild that used their magics to make a shield to keep the peasants out of their city, or something like that. anyone have any ideas?
Question:

Does being the only sane person in the world make you insane?

If a tree falls in the woods and a deaf person saw it, does it make a sound?

That wasn't Maggie Aurey's Artifacts of Power series was it? Sounds vaguely similar, as although Mages and peasants coexisted in the city of Nexus, the peasants weren't allowed into the Mages citadel...at least that is my recollection of it.

I didn't think the series was all that great, but book 1 was called Aurian.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

It doesn't really sound like the black magician trilogy to me. at first i thought that, but in that series they don't have a shield to keep the peasants out of the town, there's not even a shield around the mages guilds in that...so i don't think its that, come to think about it the 'peasant' people arn't even refered to as peasants they have a specific name (can't remember it) and they go in and out of the city as they please through the underground pipe work...

I'm looking for a book i read a few years ago, i actually read the second book in the series too but i can't remember who the author is or the actual title. I think they were called the red pavilion series or something close.
The first book was about a man called 'Soldier' who couldn't remember where he was from or even his real name, all that he knew was that he was a fighter due to his build. Anyway he marries the mental queens mental sister and goes round some places to try to cure her but things go wrong and thats all i can remember...

anyhelp?

-Greg ;)

It's not KJ Parker's Scavenger Trilogy is it? There's a guy in that who loses his memory, only to subsequently find out he's a god of some sort.

The books you are looking are Knights Dawn, Wizards funeral and Scabbards song they are written by Kim Hunter they are ok but nothing particularly special. If you want a really good series with amnesia the the KJ Parker Scavenger series is brilliant much more fun.

Hope this helps.

Its not a book but an animated Tv show I remeber watching several years ago. Their are alies living on earth. I can only really remeber two facts. I saw perhaps two or so episodes yet something reminded me about it.

Their were these black reptillian like attack dog type creatures which If I recall were called wranglers

Second was that their was a sort of inheritence theme running through the show where one alien living on earth is heir to his races kingship. He has the DNA of his father the last ruler in him. The mark of this inheritence is that he alone may wear a glove, that is actually a very powerfull weapon without it contracting to crush his hand.
