Yeah, that's who it looked like.

This was a surprisingly good episode for a Hiro-centric one. Up til now i've been ffwd'ing his segments.

- Abyss, has slight hope.

This latest episode was pretty good. Be interesting to see where the Parkman-Sylar storyline goes from here... to New York, I suspect. I have liked the pretty lights lady until now, but I'm not convinced this was a good episode for her - something dodgy going on there with a

And no Hiro, so Abyss should like it ;)

Yeah, but one powered Peter is still boring. I want super Peter NAO! *sigh* Not gonna happen in my lifetime I guess. Dunno why I keep whining about it - I suppose I want to keep up the hope.

I like the Sylar/Parkman storyline - like woot with the hostage drama! I can't really feel enthusiasm for the light lady, and the circus storyline feels forced.

Yes, I'm hoping they find a good backstory for the circus, it does need a bit of fleshing out.

Also, more Ali Larter. She just makes everyone's TV screens better to look at ;)

So i watched the rest of the season 4 and except for about seven minutes of the finale, wow, that pretty much sucked on all fronts.

It got to the point where I was ffwd'ing every pointless scene trying to make carnival earthmover guy sympathetic, every scene about Hiro's whatever, every Clare and Noah angst scene, anything about seesounds girl, and that pretty much left mediocre Sylar and Peter bromance that we've seen before.

Feh. So much wasted potential.

- Abyss, out.

It was. Briefly.
Very on the bubble as far as next season goes.

- Abyss, can't find it in himself to care.

Yup. officially announced as cancelled and oh thank you tv gods for putting this show out of my misery.

people can scream all they want but Heroes jumped the shark as of the first season finale and has been sadly trying to unjump ever since with increasing levels of fail. This past season basically shot the shark in the head and then dryhumped it in the bullet wound while the sharks rotting corpse floated down stream in an oil slick of fail that made tv producers feel like BP oil execs trying to bail out the ocean with a spork.

- Abyss, took that analogy to a bad place.

RIP.

The first season showed real potential. Second season failure you have to blame on the writers' strike, so I gave them a mulligan on that one. After that, though, it was painful. Eyes. Bleeding. Painful.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

Hooray. Should have happened much sooner, when it was apparent that it was going nowhere - or worse, round in circles. What a waste of an initially promising idea.
So that's the story. And what was the real lesson? Don't leave things in the fridge.

This is what irritates me. This show should have been a game changer for genre tv. Instead... it fell apart. And everyone watching could see it was happening.

When TV gets done by committee, bad things happen.

I gave up about half way through the last series. And I'm a huge apologist for series 2 and 3, parts of which I really enjoyed.

So who's watching this? Who's given up on it? Who's loving it?

And SPOILER warning up to end of Fall/Dec 2006 in case you're behind...

I fall into the 'loving it' category. On the one hand, most of the plots, powers and character archetypes are nothing anyone who read a few years worth of X-men comics hasn't seen before.

On the other hand, imnsho they've done a brilliant job of creating realistic characters, who the viewer can empathize with, and realistic depictions of the situations that run from developing 'super' powers. I don't care that i've seen/read this story-type before, because i'm having fun seeing it again.

Throw in some genuinely fun plot twists (the Peter/Nathan power twist), some great acting (Hiro, Nikki/Jessica, Mr Bennet) and lots of eye candy for whichever way you swing and it's a reliably entertaining hour of TV.

Plus (and i think i'm echoing Longhorn's OT comment from the S60 thread here) the LadyByss, who is utterly not a sf fan, enjoys it, so it's watchable by (forgive me) those without a healthy dose of geek in their genes, which is a plus.

Sure, there are plot holes and illogic (Hiro's powers and control are all over the place; why can Peter predict the future when in contact with Issac but sees other events in his dreams; what was the deal with the comic book), and sure, some things are so predictable it's silly (i'm quite certain 98% of the viewers knew how Peter was going to not die facing Sylar), but so what? I'm having fun, dammit!

Amusingly, it's also NBC's only major hit of the 2006 season thus far.

- Abyss, wonders how many got the Kitty Pryde comment in ep 1.

It is one of my favourite shows, I don't watch that much television, I usually wait until the dvd comes out and buy the whole series. I have watched season 1 and 2, when the third series came out I missed one episode and was so gutted/demoralised that I haven't watched it since. I was going to wait to get the box set. I am getting it for xmas this year and i am really really excited about it. Thing is, it is the only show i watched week in week out until the third series wasn't advertised enough. I love it, there is rumour it has stopped, is this true? how many season does it go up to?

It ran four seasons. Each got progressively worse.
Stop now and you can retain the memories of when the show was decent.

As an unrelated aside, anyone catch Masi Oka/Hiro on Hawaii 5-0 this week? Funny guy.

I watched all four in the baseless hope that it would return to the glory of the first season. And it never did.

And if I had known that, no, i would not have watched because it becomes eye-bleedingly bad.

But then, i hated large chunks of the second and third season and you seemed to enjoy them, so maybe you'll even like S4.
