It occurs to me that there are actually two possible alternatives to Peter going ka-blooie...

Radioactive Ted, obviously, now that he's back, but also Sylar if he happens to eat Ted's brain any time soon.

Also, how badly do people want to see a Peter v Sylar throwdown, now that Peter's getting his mojo on? (and how cool was that scene with Issac and the angry Peter painting?)

While studiously not reading any of the rest of this thread, I just watched the first episode on www.scifiuk.com, and I thought it was pretty decent. Not amazing, but quite good. Liked the twist at the end too

The Sylar - Pete rumble would be as fair and unscripted as a American wrestling match. Unless Sylar munches on the brains of everyone Pete's been in contact with, there's no way he would win. Pete got all his powers just from being close to him, in addition to everyone else he's ever met. Sylar is clearly the underdog in this scenario.

Yeah but sylar has absolute control, and petes struggling, he may not be able to call the right powers or being around sylar might be too much at once for his low level of control, like last time, he was rather ill. But yeah, a fully zen and trained up pete would be pretty much unstopable but hes not The One quite yet, despite the long black jacket and flying

Pete has copied Matt, Nathan, Claude and Clare, which gives him a pretty potent combo even before we're down to them both having telekinesis... if (big if) he can get himself under control, he's got tp, flight, invisibility, healing and tk (figuring Hiro's and Issac's powers less useful in a brawl),
vs
Sylar, from what we've seen, has tk up to the level of flying, some weird ice power (assuming the writers remember this), super hearing (enough to counter Peter's tp?) and the whole weird metal melting thing. Tho supposedly Sylar's killed a dozen or so people, so he could have others we haven't seen yet.


Tho we don't know if either of them can access more than one power at a time... i figure the sheer budget will keep it from being the full blown all out powers spectacular we want to see, but still...

Let's split the Heroes characters into two camps - those who can control their powers and those who can't.

Group 1:
Claude: seems to have control, but is always invisible

D.L. - mastered phasing

Mistah Eesak - can control his precognition abilities, but has not mastered his interpretation skills

The Haitian - yep (I call him Silencio for some reason)

Matt - yep

Meredith - yep (the pyro lady)

Micah - yep

Nathan - yep

Sylar - yep

Group 2:
Claire - unable to consciously control her regeneration powers

Hiro - mental block

Jessica/Nikki - nope

Group 3:
Peter - he can control only one power so far


Aside: I wonder how long it took for someone to dirty up Ando and Hiro's friendship. I think I have to go scour my brain with lye after that thought.

Ted, the sexy brunette connected to the internet (hana), nathan and that kid thta goes in and out of dreams can all control their powers too.

Its only peter, hiro and niki that cant. And they're getting better, bar hiro who was getting better till he turned paranoid he'll fuck up because he couldnt save memory chick (who also had some control at least).

DL is totally not buying the Jessica/Nikki switch, and how cool is it that now Nikki is working on Jessica in reverse of how they used to be.

Issac is soooooo dead.

Ando's rescue bit was hugely contrived, but good fun.

Mo' isn't nearly as brain numb as he seemed to be, but Sylar is STILL badass.

I don't think the Sylar/Peter confrontation is done yet. Pete can still heal, TK hit back, and... well, his other powers aren't really going to help him here. Future Hiro did say Peter would have a scar...

I was so sure Nathan would turn to the dark side eventually, but i did not see his Mommy Petrelli being a player like that.

Anyrate, great show, getting greater.

Really enjoying this series so far, the break till the 23rd April is going to be a killer.

I'm assuming future hiro is wrong, after all the whole point of future hiro's visit would appear to be to save claire and hence give pete the healing power, which presumably in future hiro's timeline he didn't have and so got a scar from the encounter with sylar instead of healing, in this new timeline presumably he heals... or i've got this whole time-travel thing confused and the future can't be changed hence rendering the actions of the heroes futile
