I never can understand how people can enjoy a series, but selectively skip books. You're missing out on part of a series you enjoy, and you won't understand later books as well.

Oi! cut out the crap...
Apt, you know better than spam in the book forums...
and back on topic...
MT doesn't go way back in time.... only the prologue.
The rest of the book brings us back to (more or less) House of Chains, followed by Bonehunters.

True and as it's said above many things make more sense in both HoC and BH when you've read MT.
Much like I think Reapers Gale's prologue, will be worth the cost of buying the book so was MT. The whole raining blood, draconean betrayal, discussion between Mael and Gothos... aawesome.
The entire book is riddles with backflashes to the grand history. I don't remember any of the other books revealing so much in backflashes about Wu's myth and history.

I'd say that the real issue was that the Letherii weren't prepared to fight a war with the Edur just then, since they were engaged in wars with other nations. They were just biding their time until they had the strength to attack the Edur.
Agreed, i remember Seren asking Udinass i think it was how long FW's family had lived in the village and it was a long time, several generations.
Mentioned how long the Edur life span is and how quickly the Letherii become sexually active by comparison, can probably worked out how few initial slaves would've been taken and just became more quite quickly.
Throw in a few hundred from raids over generations and the loss of some indebted sailors probably came at a time the Letherii we not quite ready

True enough, but in MT thye are ready for war, and are in fact trying to provoke the Edur into one. Even if they had never mentioned it before for the reasons you talked about, it would have made sense for them to bring it up at the same time they were trying to get payment for the "stolen" cargo of seals.

Seren Pedac = Star Production Engineering Design and Control
Wow:eek:
That makes her easily the most powerful character in the entire series...

Just finished this book- why i ever skipped it before reading BH is beyond me!!! Awesome book, it fills in lots of gaps(seeing how i read BH first)- I love how SE starts his books with long writing sessions at the begining detailing situations and characters and nearing the end you have 3-4 pages of a situation and then back to another. Great Book happy i read it.

Personally my favourite of the series!
Interesting sorcery. At High Fort, the K'risnan used the sorcery through Rhulad's sword and it was a grey storm of bones.
At Brans Keep, the sorcery was from the CG, through Hanan Mosag's sea demon to the CG, and it was spiralling pillars of grey dust.
Any thoughts as to the difference?

I think generally the magic takes the form of decay and death, dust and bones are both crypt-style things, I imagine it just depends on the particular fashioning as to what exact form it takes.
