The people like Kallor or Hetan that have read the rough manuscript, have seen how many pages there are, that probably in A4 sheats.
I think I remember Kallor mentioning how many normal sheats RG was in but don't remember the number.
It sounded like RG will return to the 1000 pages plus, like MoI.

Visit his site man. That's all I gotta say. Hey, here:

and some of my fav's:

Ok, I lied, I have more to say:
He doesn't have the time to read thousand page books in order to capture all of the single details that Erikson throws in willy-nilly every 50 to 100 pages. He does his best to get enough details to do a good piece of work. Accurate? Nope. Close? Yes. And he cares. He's come onto this board to get details from us and sugesstions on scenes to write, and judging from his reply to the e-mail I sent him, he truly cares to create an accurate rendition of the scene.
He does draw for DnD and Magic though, so yes, his artistry has a fantastic feel to it. Last time I checked that is the genre of Erikson's books though.

I have made a mistake, i thought he was responsible for all the covers. House and Memories are definite improvements on the dreadful cut and paste efforts of the first two, though not at all to my taste. I've visited his site before and i'm not a fan of his art to be honest. Or what passes for "art" in the fantasy sense.
The UK covers i think reflect the feel of the series much much more, although obviously still fantasy, they evoke a much more adult feel IMO.
Bulging muscles, flowing locks, and bloodstained swords doesnt do it for me, its all very cliched.
Is there a reason the States couldn't have the infinitley superior UK covers?

Since this topic is hopelessly off-topic already, I'll just say that Magician is a great book, and, IMO opinion, almost the only book out there who can match Malazan. ( Please don't kill me. )
I'm looking forward to it, its the new complete edition with the added 15,000 words.

Amazon page numbers are simply random(300-600) and have no relation to the actual number of pages until the book has already been published. They initially listed BoneHunters as 500 pages or so too. At least the Amazon that I order from did. Its confusing because I live in the US but Amazon.com links to other country publishing.
I do love Amazon even if the page numbers are off. I mean, if buying from the bookstore it would be this spring before I could buy Bonehunters and who knows when I could get Reapers' Gale. But with Amazon, I got BH and will get RG this spring. Bliss!

Email from SE's editor today "no confirmed pagination as yet, but at a guess
I'd say it's going to be Bonehunters size..."
and he's promised to send the cover soon

I would clap my hands and jump around for a hour, if RG is as big as the bonehunters
I have stolen princesses from sleeping barrow kings
I have burned the town of Trebon
I have spent the night with Felurian and left with both my sanity and my life
I was expelled from the University at a younger age most people are allowed in
I tread paths by moonlight that others fear to speak of during the day
I have talked to Gods, loved women, and written songs that make minstrels cry
You may have heard of me....

Note to self: resume forearm, grip and lower back exercise regime in early 2007.
- Abyss, almost sprained something on The Bonehunters. Now why does that sound dirty...?

I'm just glad these Malazan books aren't available in advanced reader html/e-book versions. That was so diabolical of Baen books to do that, so I wound up buying 2 copies of all my favorite books. I bought the e-book versions of D.Weber books despite being unproofed (although it must be said that Weber's unproofed books contain fewer errors than 99% of other SF/fantasy authors finished published books). I always just had to buy the e-book version because it was usually available about 6 months before the published book. But, then because I prefer for rereading the real paper book I buy those too as soon as published.
Anyway, I just wanted to say I'm glad. Although the wait is killing me.

You can be sure I will be reminding Bantam that they owe us a Christmas present!
I can't wait to see the cover....there are some great scenes to use and I'd have a hard time deciding which one would be best.

Maybe you have had this question before, but, compared to the other books in the serie, how would you who have read Reaper's Gale rate it?

@ reborn ... unlike others who write in this genre, (let's not mention names mr. jordan), SE is keenly aware that he promised 10 books and feels responsible to tell his story in those 10 books; what's more, SE feels he needs to do it on time. that said, reaper's gale is the beginning of the end, a clear acceleration in the massive undertaking of 'closing' this story cycle. i loved it. so, i believe, did hetan and those few others who have had the privilege to read it. except maybe malaclypse, who felt a number of the main character deaths unnecessary, and one in particular. i for one was surprised, but can appreciate the poetry of the choice.
trust me, reaper's will certainly earn its share of this forum activity.

As long as he doesn't bring them back to life again -- his tendency to do this is one of the few things I dislike with the books -- I am fine with a couple of main-characters dying. To be honest, I can hardly wait...

Oh no, not more main character deaths....
Kallor, you'll have me worried for months now! Plus now I'll annoy Hetan even more at the meet-up by asking a host of "so who dies?" questions trying to catch her off guard.

I don't think Kruppe will be present in Reaper's Gale. He is after all in Darujhistan, and we will probably see more of him in Toll the Hounds.
To know who will die beforehand is by the way a curse rather than a blessing.

I know, but it's one of those things you can't help but ask, especially if wasted.
So Hetan, tell me nothing!
