It states that Karsa and Iccy both are destined to cross blades with our dear beloved emperor psyco. Does that mean that he will kill one of them to be able to fight the next?
And the empire edges ever-closer to all-out war with the neighbouring kingdoms. Will that be all of them at once and will that be to much for even the lackeys of tCG to handle?

The Karsa vs. Iccy vs. Rhulad fight will probably end up surprising all of us. It will probably be nothing like we expect, that or Icarium just destroys Lether and the end.

I'm guessing the all out war will have something to do with The Ratcatchers guild and Tehols plans with the little islands. Tehold is probably deeply involved in the resistance against Rhulads empire. The 14th along with the perish will most likely be the third player in that fight.

Throw in a dozen ascendants and a few more gods and it's gonna be a mess :D

i think the only way to kill rhulad is to break the sword, and no matter how strong Iccy is i doubt he could do that, so if rhulad does die then it would probably be at Karsa's hand, Karsa does have the assistance of all the souls chained to him.

As for breaking Rhulad's sword, isn't the maker of the sword (Withal? or Wither? one was whats-his-faces-ghost-companion... I forget) on his way with the 14th, maybe he will know how to break it?

Withal made the sword, Wither was that damn half-dragon thing thats now traveling with Ruin and Fear.. I think:P

Just because they are destined to cross blades, does not mean they will fight.
Could be a turn of a phrase. Could be that they start fighting, and are pulled away from each other.. Could be that a giant magnet pops up before they start fighting and sucks all their blades to it, causing them to cross when landing. (or a warren doing the same thing.) this speculation is pointless.

Withal = Meckros, the sword smith

Wither = Tiste Andii shade, lived in Udinaas' shadow, we got his real name and title at the end of MT but they escape me at the moment

half-dragon thing = are you talking about the Wyval that possessed Udinaas?

Do you really think the 14th will show. For some reason i think that they wont. UNless we have evidence to the contrary those wolf soldiers could simply be the fore runners of the perish. Maybe the Perish know the 14th will not be enough because they already sent a large force to Lether and it was destroyed. Just a thought that they might not get there 4 this book

I think that those wolf soldiers were Toc/Anaster's mercenaries, and that wolves ate only the hearts points to that as well. They are dedicated to togg and fanderay after all.

I have this feeling that it's going to be a nasty surprise for everyone. Too many big, powerful and not to mention insane characters are showing up in Lether. If i was in the 14th i'd preform every ritual known to mankind not to show up in Lether.

Let the big dogs fight it out and the the malazan can clean up and take over afterward. They need a break!

possible solutions to the problem that is rhulad
1 Dragnipur
2 Karsa Orlong chains his soul to himself
3 someone pins him under a rock (the favoured solution for all your hard to kill problems in the MBoTF)
4 chained in the shadow realm
5 Create a rent and seal it with Rhulad

Just solutions with precedent, which may mean nothing.
