Epica - "Feint"

I downloaded a playlist off my campus' DC++ network last week of female metal vocalists, and it's simply amazing. My hat goes off to whoever put it together.
And so the First denied their Mother,
in their fury, and so were cast out,
doomed children of Mother Dark.

Anomander, if you remember, I said good emo was "few and far between" - I'm no supporter of the genre.

Nightwish, on the other hand, is a done and done case for me. Tarja's vocals is the only redeeming factor about the music (generally), and in general the music is so dull and unimaginativ I can't stand it. If you have to listen to metalish music, let it be Arcturus (allthough not their latest album - it was a catastrophe), mid-period Kovenant (yes, I actually think it's quite good), Apocalyptica's albums Reflection and Cult, or Ulver. Anything by Ulver is amazing, but in the metal genre there is mainly the older stuff, allthough their latest album, Blood Inside, carries some very clear metal influences.

I can see your point on some of their older albums, but I do believe they hit gold with "Once". I don't imagine Tarja's divaness helped matters (not travelling/praticing/etc. with them for ages). With a new singer and a break to write new music, I think their next album will be awesome.

'Once' is a fantastic album. 'Century Child' is good but not as good. The rest of their stuff is so-so. Nothing special though.

If Rhapsody of Fire is a bad Italian fantasy metal band...
Rhapsody is lots of fun to listen to, but it's not what I'd call good.
Now, on the other hand, great music:

Motorpsycho - What if...
