Why did none of you miserable chucklefucks tell me about Nekrogoblikon then.

[media[https://youtu.be/1Q3ub1SUYfg[/media]

Secondly, I am kind of glad to get 2019 done. It's been an incredibly shitty year. This piece is one of my favourites, but hits particularly close to home as the event it's from was three days in when my stepfather passed unexpectedly.

I am planning to write an essay piece on this particular composition and upload it to the GFL reddit at some stage so if anyone fancies a read of it I'll linky.

I really want to see Wagakki Band live, it looks like so much fun. I read somewhere that they're performing at the closing ceremony of this year's Olympics. Not sure if that's true but, if it is, maybe it'll get them enough attention to get them to tour Europe.

Just discovered these guys on a whim the other day. Can't stop listening to this song:

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"
―Gene Wolfe, The Citadel of the Autarch

Suddenly you were gone
From all of the lives you left your mark upon

Rest in peace, Professor. We remember. Posted Image

Fuck! That is terrible news. A truly transformative and influential artist. His drumming needs no words, but many may not know how impactful a writer he was. A great loss that hits me very hard.

Taylor Hawkins' singing and mannerisms makes me cringe, but I predict great things for the drummer.Posted Image

I had forgotten how epic Dire Straights' The Man's Too Strong was...

The next Sons of Anarchy series needs this as the theme tune.

Damn, listening to the radio on the drive into work, they trying to get me in my feelz. These two songs played back to back. Had to play it off to the receptionist in the lobby when I showed her my badge like I had dust in my eye. Shamefully showed her my badge and hurriedly got to the elevator. No small talk this emotional morning.Posted Image

For some reason this song has been on my mind today. Don't know why. Maybe you guys are collectively experiencing the same phenomenon and have an answer for this feeling? Posted Image

Okay guys, you know by now that I'm not a pop, cotton candy, Billboard top 100 listener. Not my thing, never been my thing. I find most of what the masses consider "hits" completely hollow and uninteresting and repetitive and formulaic and image driven/focused and.... well you get the idea. But there's something about this song. It's been pop-a-loppin' all over the radio in my neck of the woods and each time I jump around the dial and land on it, I find myself listening. There's something about that voice, I think, that keeps me tuned in.
