You are of course all wrong and Mappo fails spectacularly for even mentioning that foetus of an album St Arselick :p

I still occasionally delve into Metallica-land but refuse to listen to anything they did after ...And Justice For All.
Call me a Metalli-snob if you like but there you go.

The Misfits cover Last Caress/ Green Hell off the $5.98 E.P. Garage Days Re-revisited mini is awesome.

Though respect to Creeping Death and anything off Master of Puppets,

(MOP is in my top 10 all time albums..... St Arserape is not :p :D: )

@ Masan's: nothing past justice?? come on....even black?? Wherever I may roam, Enter sandman?? nothing?? they have some pretty awsome shit in their latest album too...

@Lobo: I'll admit St.anger was decent except for some abominations one of which was kindly mentioned by Mappo. But its not the level expected from someone as godly -yes I'm a fanboy- as Metallica. I firmly believe that if another band had released St.Anger it would have been much more successful that it is now...I mean try to listen to something like One then put on something like Invisible Kid...you will find what I'm saying pretty obvious

on topic...

Nope :D

Some of the tracks off the Black album are cited as classics and commercially speaking it was a successful album. But Enter Sandman got played to death and gets on my tits. Don't get wrong, i'll tap my feet but if i'm in the mood for Metallica it's usually the first 4 albums I go to.

We're talking 20 years ago and at the time everyone was still reeling from the change of pace/sound that happened on Justice and I was listening to a lot of different shit. Black was, IMO the first step on the road to meltdown the band have only recently come out of. It's a good album but I'd moved on.

I know this is HERESY to a fanboy but there you go :)

I will say though that there are a couple of meaty tracks on the new album that remind me of the earlier stuff, although I have not heard the new album all the way through.

Well to each his own I guess...i'll admit the first 4 were better than the last ones, I mean there's not arguing that... and that the period between 2003-2009 wasn't the best period in Metallica's history but they're back and just as mean as before so I have high hopes!!

I'm open to criticisim about the band as I know they went through some bad phases, but it's their ability to pull through and stick together where other bands would have just disbanded or hired other people...and that's what makes metallica so good to me (aside from their kickass music)
so I guess I'm more of an open-minded fanboy than your average one...

oh and try to listen to Death Magnetic thoroughly if you can, I think you will be pleasently surprised..

I agree that St Anger wasn't their best work, but look at the other bands around the era still going today, especially the big four (Slayer, Megadeth, Anthrax and Metallica) I mean beside Metallica, none of the others have really taken any risks with their music, not like S&M or St Anger, that s one of the reason i love Metallica. Plus they play shit hot music.

Metallica - Broken, Beat & Scarred

Dammit, guys, go start a Metallica thread or something. This isn't the place for a discussion.

Lol I was obviously joking...I haven't listened to that album in years, nor do I even remotely like it.

Anyway, back on topic.
