FREAKING AMY WINEHOUSE!!! What is the deal? Seriously, before I even get onto the fact that she is a disgrace to the whole music business, I don't even see the attraction in the first place. I mean, her voise is nasal, wining and hideously annoying and her face looks like one of her ancestors was a bit too friendly with a horse, or something. She sounds like a man, and it really bugs me that everyone thinks she is the greatest singer ever or something.

And now onto the way she behaves. One example is that she came onto stage in front of a massive crowd (who no doubt paid too much money to go and see her - most concerts I go to cost me between £10 and £20 which is a good price. I doubt tickets to her concerts are less than £25.) She starts singing, and after 15 minutes she breaks down and leaves the stage. WHY THE HELL ARE PEOPLE ALLOWING HER TO CONTINUE DOING THIS??? It's an absolute disgrace to her fans, to the music business and to herself. She is a complete hopeless drug addict, and most likely anorexic as well, yet she has little kids looking up to her. People shake their heads and say "oh how sad" yet continue to buy her records and go to her concerts. The very fact that her most famous song is about her refusing rehab gives an attitude that makes it sound alright for people to do drugs and stuff without it affecting them. She is an utter mess, and yet she continues to receive tons of money to help feed her habits. People say "it's not fair she's an addict, and she needs help."
Fair enough, but she is refusing help and the same people are helping her to keep addicted. She might as well do a song called "Hey kids, do drugs!"

Her excuse? "They help me write my songs." Oh, THAT makes it alright then! Apparently she needs to be in a mess in order to write from her heart. WHAT THE HELL??? That makes no sense whatsoever! Sure, many writers have been on drugs when writing stuff, but it's not like her stuff is the inspirational works that others on drugs have done. She is a complete wreckage, and this is what needs to happen to her...
She needs to be put in a hole. Seriously, she just needs to disappear for a long time. How that happens, I don't know or care, but the record labels need to drop her, and she needs to stop touring. Maybe when she starts being a better role model for people then she can get back on track. But while she has thousands of people literally paying for her to stay on drugs and screw her life up, she is basically telling people it is OK to do all that stuff. Seriously, I am not someone who hates anyone, but I am close to it. I cannot stand her!

Your rant seems to fall under the "It's a shame she's so screwed up" category, and I don't disagree with any of it. All I'm saying is her voice, while nasal, is interesting and different from most of the pop crap out there.

Ayreon - The Dream Sequencer/Universal Migrator

I get Amy Winehouse - it is a nasal voice but she sings with a lot of depth, expression and gravitas. At first I thought, why is anyone interested in the trainwreck but then I heard a few songs and understood the acclaim. Lyrically she is pretty damn good and the music is more of a throwback to Stax/Motown than the pseudo hip-hop/plastic pop we get from most pop artists these days. It's unfortunate that she can't control her demons because she has the talent to make a decent career. The vile UK tabloids will now hound her until she ODs and then we'll be left with just the beginnings of what could have been an interesting career.

Zao - Psalm of the City of the Dead.

This song is incredible - mostly instrumental, it has a haunting piano riff with interjected choral bits.

@Lost Marine - what about them? They have some classic tracks (especially Civil War, it is wonderful!) I do like them, though they have never been one of my top bands.
