How do you think TO will play with Trent Edwards though? He doesn't seem like the most dominant of QBs. You could see TO bullying him into throwing his way all the time.

You'd like to think he'd just play football and make them a better team. But this is TO we're talking about, he's a selfish player and always has been. Edwards will only be in his 3rd year, if TO feels he's not getting the ball enough we could see plenty of those sportscenter highlights with him and someone arguing.

Also, he only signed a 1 year deal, so he's playing for another contract next year. He knows the better he does this year, the more money he can get as a free agent next year.

This is a recipe for disaster. But maybe i'm wrong.

Can I just express my disbelief at what an idiot McDaniels is? He's only been head coach for about a month and I hate him already. Let's be realistic here, he is NOT an established head coach with a proven track record. He's a young first timer trying to establish his authority, and he's letting that get in the way of actually trying to succeed. If Cutler goes, then I cant see who Denver can get to even maintain the same level. Noone else is willing to let their probowl QB go, are they?

Now Cutler's publicily demanded a trade from Denver. Things were shaky in Denver to begin with, just keeps getting worse though.

Ah, McDaniels, you arse. If you were Cutler you cant tell me you wouldnt be pissed off. You have a great season, then someone who did well with Brady Moss and Welker comes in and tells you you're shit? I know f*ck all about american football, but even I could do a good job with that offense. The only acceptable solution I can see is swapping Cutler for the number 1 draft pick with Detroit, then picking up Stafford and Leftwich in free agency. Leftwich has the experience to lead the team for a couple of seasons while Stafford is groomed to the system, and Leftwich's injury proneness shouldnt be a problem behind Denver's solid offensive line. That way the number 12 pick can still go on Raji to improve the D. But somehow, I think McDaniels is going to fuck this up even more.

Now teams know Cutler wants out and Denver are probably desperate to ship him, he'll probably be traded for a 5th round pick or something crap like that, and be stuck with Chris Simms as starting QB for the season. Woot. And it all looked so rosy when Dawkins signed. Sigh. Even the Raiders will probably do better than the Broncs this year.

I cringe at the thought of Stafford going to the Lions....unless they sit him and get a better O-Line to protect him.

I watched that guy play, in person, for 3 years. He's got the skills and smarts to play in the NFL. I think the 49ers are a good fit for him too.

The Cutler/McDaniels broken bromance is RIDICULOUS. I'm tired of hearing of it.

TO will blow up in game 7 or 8 of this next season....the guy is a cancer.

I hope the Lions dont pull the same game they did with Harrington. Draft a good young QB with potential, throw him into a terrible situation where he gets his ass handed to him every week and just ruins his career. The niners would be an excellent fit if they could get him. They have a good young O-line and a stud in Gore that could take a lot of the pressure off him. Then maybe he could have a year like Flacco and Ryan had last year because their wasnt too much pressure on them and they had talent around.

Slow Ben=wishing it was football season.

Sigh.

So you "solve" the D problem by bringing in old players like Dawkins who can do a good job for a year or 2. No problem with that, good idea, a better D with that no.2 offence could just be enough.

But wait! We get rid of our QB, and write the next couple of years off as "rebuilding." Great, so by the time we have a QB who can maybe do ok again, those free agents you brought in to help the D will have retired or be past it. So what was the point. Oh, I hate McDaniels so very much.

Yeah, it fixed the D to bring in John Lynch's twin brother Bryan Dawkins. Ok

Uh,yeah. Some better recievers would be nice. Hester's got loads of talent, but we'll see. The others are only average. But he does have two really good TE's in Clark and Olsen. And Forte is an excellent reciever out of the backfield.

They'll prob take a reciever in the 2nd, but drafting recievers is always a toss up and how good will he be in his first few years. we'll see.

BTW, they traded Orton, 2 1st's, a 3rd, and a 5th.

The Bears had to do it. But you're right, receivers are always a risk. This year's draft is pretty good receiver-wise though......Mohammed Massaquoi from UGA is a good 3rd round option. That kid can play.

I wouldnt be surprised if one of the top recievers fell to the second round either. Last year Devin Thomas and Donnie Avery fell to the second round. And Desean Jackson went in the middle of the 2nd and had an immediate impact. Heres hoping.

Slow Ben=still giggling like a school girl with too much caffeine.

Bears just signed Orlando Pace also. I bet they put him at guard if Chris Williams is ready to go.

That's a lot to give up for a QB who will cry like a girl and take his ball home when he don't get what HE wants ...... new contract ...... new coach ...... better line ..... nicer weather ...... risky, very risky.

Holy fuck.

I've gotta say, as annoyed as I am to lose Cutler, this is actually a pretty good deal (better than I thought they'd get anyway)- all those picks plus an upgrade over Simms. I think both the 1st round picks this year might go on D players, that'd be great to get a massive impact, then see if Orton does ok and if not draft a QB with the extra 1st round next year.

Im not an Orton fan, but I do think he'll be better in Denver - the better O-line and better receiving corps has got to make some difference, and the Bears werent too far off the playoffs this year. If the draft picks can significantly improve the D, hopefully get Raji and a solid LB, plus a few extra players in the later rounds, then I think Cutler's absence won't be felt too badly.

For the Bears, if their line can keep him upright, I think he'll do wonders for Hester's development and the offence in general, I think this could put them to the top of the NFC North. They got the better end of the deal to my mind, especially if they can pick up a WR and an OT in fee agency or the draft. Someone better than Orlando Pace, who, if not good enough for the Rams, I cant see being good enough for the Bears.
