I'm the same as brood, i'll probably pick it up in the shops, it's generally pretty consistent that if the books out on the monday it will be on the shelves somewhere by the thursday/friday, and there is no way I'm going to wait to buy it if I see it... though if this new dates right the release is on a tuesday so we might only get it on the Monday...

Another relative fan of hardcovers/hardbacks. Most people dislike them because they hurt their hands, weak beings :D

HARDCOVERS ARE PURE WIN!!!

Those who cannot handle them fail and should have their hands replaced by steel claws.

But fundamentally, i just like getting these books asap, and the hbs have more life to them. I totally like the portability of mmpbs and tpbs, but when it comes to a book/author i truly enjoy, its hbs for moi.

- Abyss, can also use them for self defence in a pinch...

For the aussies in here, best i could find is 6 october 2008 for Toll the hounds paperback for $25.99

and 11 August for The Return of the Crimson Guard, trade paperback for 35.99 plus shipping rates.

Thats from an australian book site, an international site maybe quicker but cost more.

So....

How are the ARC's for RotCG out, while the TotH ARC's are now, while ToTH release is July1 and RotCG is mid-august? Am I missing something?

Because the ARCs for RotCG are from PSPublishing, whereas the mass market release is from Bantam. TtH is just being published by Bantam.

I imagine RotCG has some reasurances that they won't release for a while as part of the conditions of rights-sharing.

For those in Australia who can wait a few months for TtH (I can, mostly because I have about a billion other things to read, including RotCG), a certain website has it available for pre-order for October 31 for $9.99 Australian plus postage. Yes, seriously. It's paperback, and I'm assuming trade paperback (AFAIK MMPB's are published at least a year after the first printing?). I don't know if there's a rule against posting links to company websites here; if there's not I'll put a link up :D

As long as you're trying to be helpful, and not advertising for someone, I think it's cool.

Fishpond have it up for sale at $9.99. Could someone confirm for me that there's no way the MMPB could be out at this stage? Fishpond haven't been able to tell me whether it's TPB or MMPB, and I don't want to ruin my lovely collection of large books :D

It does seem odd that the MMPB is out already. I have suspicions.

For those of you in Australia, Toll the Hounds is out in bookstores for $40 trade paperback. It was released 2 days ago. Return of the Crimson Guard is due out 1st of Semtember for the same price.

Both books have been taken down from the Fishpond book site. I hope this helps anyone.

Has there been any news on Stonewielder? Do we have any idea about when it will be released?

Ahem

As far as I know, RotCG was supposed to be released in the US last month.

I can find no information on any of the big us booksellers sites (Barnes and Noble, Borders) and have been unable to find any updated release information.

Anyone know what is going on with that?

I can find no release info at all for US publishing, not on Amazon, not on B&N, not on publishers websites... I guess they're waiting to see how well he does everywhere else? Order is from Canada or something, I recommend.

I found it listed at B&N, but they said they were out of stock. Amazon has it listed in their marketplace at fairly decent prices. Powell's has it listed but for a much higher price. It's probably the UK edition, though. I know I ordered mine from the UK. Better covers and better book building.

I don't know whether it has been mentioned before:
