For some reason, I think she's great. The scene with her and Pearl were so funny and I was thrilled when they attacked each other and then she told him to talk to the hand.

But this could be my post-Bonehunters impression.

I must admit I have rather enjoyed her interactions with Pearl. :)

I loved her interactions with Pearl :)
Lostara is one of my favourite charcters in HoC. I liked the story of her life very much, too :)
Puck was not birthed, she was cleaved from a lava flow and shaped by a fierce god's hands. - [worry]
Ninja Puck, Ninja Puck, really doesn't give a fuck..? - [King Lear]

Well I wouldnt go so far as to say I loved her, but her interaction with Pearl was amusing. If only because such a relationship of "love hate" can be experienced in the real world. And there inlies I think the reason why Erikson's books are so good. We can relate in some part the happenings and emotions to the real world despite the book being a fantasy novel.

I wonder, and would value your opinions, why are many fantasy books the subject of female assassins? (N.B. I have nothing against female assassins, I am not prejudiced at all :-) )

Am I the only one considering that she is now free to associate with Quick Ben, whom she used to fantasize about ? Might prove interesting...

No, you're not the only one :)

Limaris:
Imho female assassins are so common because most (male) fantasy writers consider them as a perfect combination of death and erotica.

Where's the eroticism in being gutted?

It's one of the few times you actually get to have a woman inside you, as oposed to the other way around.

My ears do not decieve me, this discussion is treading down the carnal path, one of sin, cease and repent! :D Danya, you have to admit there are some people out there who like pain while recieving pleasure...granted, being gutted would be rather extreme.

That Whelp was rather obvious wasn't it, a silly question of mine. Thank you for your answer.

for some reasons... I just don't like her. Maybe because of her occupation. Hang on, but i like Picker. um, probably because of her very stubborn personality. I wouldn't want her to be paired with QB though.

I like Lostara and Pearl *together*. They play off of each other too well for them to be quite as interesting apart. All through House of Chains, I found myself looking forward to their bits together, and was especially pleased when they finally gave in to their *obvious* attractions in (Raraku was it?). Lostara's actions toward Pearl afterwards, though, I found somewhat irritating. So do I like Lostara on her own? Not really. But with Pearl? Definately.
