Mhm, I see. But I was questioning whether it was Kimloc who stole the song ("of" or "from") the BB's acting on his own accord or the wish of the Tanno as a whole?

I thought the Tanno were a caste of priests, who followed the philosophy/creed/rituals of the original Tanno. Not necessarily an ethnic group in themselves. They are referred to as a cult in DG, by Kimloc's guard.

If you remember that scene in DG, Fiddler refused to let Kimloc touch him and so learn of the BB's history, so he could weave a song about them. Yet a few paragraphs later Kimloc placed a conch shell in Fid's hands (a possible contact - this was the shell he would later throw at Tremorlor, marking the first singing of the song, right?) and then Kimloc claps him on the shoulder as he bids him farewell.

I believe it was this second contact which allowed Kimloc to sing the song of Bridgeburners, and he did it on his own, against Fiddler's will. We've got no reason to think the Spiritwalkers as a whole worked on the song, do we? It was just Kimloc, and he was certainly powerful to do it alone. (I think Kimloc is perhaps one of the most powerful individuals we've seen, but he will not use his power for destruction).

Where did you get this stealing notion from? i dont remember reading it. Maybe he stole the BBs history to make a song?

Kimloc said that in order to weave a song about the BB's he would need to touch Fid, and in doing so would gain the required knowledge of their history. Fid didn't agree to that contact, but only seconds later Kimloc twice makes contact with Fid.

I think those contacts (particularly the second) are what allowed Kimloc to weave the song. Since Fid didn't assent to this, I suppose you could call it "stealing" Fiddler's memories. But I don't think Hedge and the other dead BB's are complaining about it too much.

edit: to Danyah, below - but he did it without Fiddler's consent, which he had expressly withheld moments before. Hence "stealing".

No stealing involved, he gave them a song, based on Fid's memories.

So you didnt get any resentment from Kalam that Kimloc had taken the song. There is a passage i'm sure where Kalam expresses his disgust.

I don't quite understand Kimloc's song. What does he hope to achieve with it? it seems to benefit dead Bridgeburners only, not the ones still alive!

The song triggered the return of the Raraku sea. Fid and the rest of the BB seem ascended for other reasons (Paran's blessing,...). The song was woven with the memories of the Bridgeburners, born in the heart of Raraku. When Fid nears the heart again, the song becomes stronger, finally, upon arrival, it set the sea free again. I'm not sure but I think the ghost army finally went to Hood too.

And sure Kalam hated the Spiritwalker. He hates magic, he hates Kimloc for giving up the city, several reasons.

The song also helped Fiddler & company survive the berserk Soletaken in Tremorlor, if you remember. Fid threw the conch shell, and as it broke the song began, and the Soletaken were repulsed.

Nah, the conch and the song were different things. The conch was a song because all Tanno sorcery are songs. The conch held a weapon/protection spell, the other song was invested in Fid himself.

Really? I thought the breaking of the conch marked the beginning of the song of the Bridgeburners. Could be wrong though.

The song started halfway HoC iirc. Only the bridgeburners close to Raraku hear the song.
