Heh, that comment has drawn out my crazy theory on fener and the house of war... we know from Paran's Deck that the chief card of the new house of war is the card of the "Lords of War", Paran thought this was confusing as it was occupied by Togg and Fanderay one of whom is female and clearly NOT a lord, but what if the real occupents of the card are Togg and Fener, twin gods of war, and Fanderay is just filling in till Fener gets his act together and comes back with a bang in book 10.

Oh and Stormy is almost certainly Fener's shield anvil, and definitely not Treach's.

I've missed the page in which Paran speaks about thi could you point it uot for me, please?

And what do you think Paran will do with his new armie? It looks like his first stop will be Quon Tali... And then?

ERrr, can't find it off teh top of my head... i'll note it down on my re-read...

Though it wasn't Paran that was a mistype, it was Fiddler whilst looking at the deck Tavore had given him.

Another question... I cannot find the part in which someone says to Paran that he has to find followers or helpers cause Seven Cities is too dangerous. Could you help me?

as to fener being in stormy very interesting. i often wondered were fener went. i mean god hunters (if there are such things. i mean there must be. or maybe just other ascendents) would have killed him long ago. i actually thought stormy was treachs shield anvil. since heborics dead i mean. also whos his destrriant if heboric was a shield anvil

Back to the original topic, I was well disappointed. In fact, I recall reading where someone said that s/he was disappointed with Dejim. I'm more disappointed with T'Amber....I mean, what she did was cool but why did she have to die? The Eres'al could have healed her and kept her by Tavore's side....even if it was time to depart, it would have been a better gift...unless none of T'Amber remained 8o ? I.e., unlike Apsalar's possession. And there's that apostrophe thing again, denoting death: T'Amber.

I'm not convinced Heboric is finished. We heard his thoughts long after he bought it, and his remains clearly had some important effect on the falling Jade Giant.

Paran's deal with Hood was for Heboric's soul to get out again to deal with the Jade Giant. He's still dead. As for where his soul has gone now ... that might need a reread, if there's anything said at all. Maybe nowhere at all ...

Treach has another lesser position in that house, so im still plumbing for fenner and togg occpying that throne by the end of the series.

Treach is listed as Lord of War in the glossary... so I'm going back to my earlier post.. :p
that this is a concerted effort and .. the Lords of war are Togg, Fanderay, Treach and Fenner.

I think that she had to dash off to stop Icarium from killing everyone.

Also now Tavore had Lostara Yil now

My query with T'Amber is this. Was she always possessed by Eres'al? Or was she herself before Malaz City? If she was herself, then who was she before the possession? She was always very mysterious and then she made the new broaches and painted the new Deck for Fid. It was built up as though she was someone special. Explaining it away by possession doesn't cut it for me.

I agree in that I found T'Amber a very intriguing mystery that we never got to the bottom of. She was always an interesting character kept very much in the background and I thought we'd find out more about her. There was always an impression that she might not have been quite human I thought. Now the questions are when did the possession start, was it all the time, and was she aware at all? In retrospect now I'm not surprised we haven't had answers as that sits with how Erickson is treating Tavore.... it's becoming more and more apparent that she's a pivotal character. She's potentially a new Empress but also I think a lot more, yet we know next to nothing about her as a character, which I think is very deliberate. Makes her hard to like too.

Tamber was something (priestess? attendant?) from the temple of the Queen of Dreams as I recall, mentioned in HoC somewhere.

Frankly I don't buy this at all. I don't think Hoods deal has anything to do with Heboric, I think the bargain is something Paran will have to try and do in future. Hood assistance may well have included Heboric's soul, but was not the bargain itself.

Paran is a powerful figure now and it seams as if hes getting the hang of the whole 'master of the deak' thing. Anything that hood asked for must be extremely important for him to ask paran who can do things no ascendant can do. It must be something to do either with the deck itself of with the houses. Prehaps he wants another house changed/destroyed. Whatever it is its gonna have a huge effect on the malazan world and i have a feeling that QB will try and find paran to 'discuss' the deal.
