I don't recall where I heard it but I think RG is on a so-far unvisited continent. Besides, wouldn't he save such a big battle for nearer the end, say nine or ten?

Just an off topic point, blood oil, when ingested, causes incredible lust - cripplingly so in the case of females. Raw otataral obviously does not (its floating in the air all the time in some places). What else do they put in the oil do you think...?

awww - good question... but iirc that must be pure otataral - maybe its the especially production and the fact, that it's oil and not dust or stone.

Perhaps I made myself unclear re Karsa and his army. I think it's possible that Karsa's progress will be a books spanning campaign. I too have heard that Reapers Gale may take place on Letheras. But perhaps not all of it. After all from Bonehunters onwards we may see POVs across all three main continents, rather than 1 continent per book (the latter would be limiting as a plot device as the story comes to a head if nothing else). So the Final Apocalyptic Battle may well be in Book 9-10, but I suspect the campaign will kick off earlier.

As for Blood Oil. I guess its use as an aphrodisiac is an accidental occurance. It's initial use was I would argue purely to do with Teblor sword maintenance. Then one day, accidentaly, some got ingested, this lead to another sort of ....ahem..... swordplay. And that's been the way ever since. I doubt if one of Karsa's ancestors sat there thinking "This bloodoils good for keeping my sword sharp, I wonder whether it would spice my love life up ?"

Also, in the Nascent when the Shattered 7 arrive, they notice the Tiste Edur's warren is still open and "in this place, it will become a wound ...... a growing wound". He then directs Ber'ok to scatter the otaral dust to close it up, as the other T'Lan Imass are approaching.

In the previous book, when the malazans find the ship, i believe both heboric and the mage r3efer to the magical deadness of the cabin.

Where does it say otaral doesnt affect the elder warrens?

Is the cursed gods warren of chaos not in essense also an Elder Warren, due to the fact it can bleed into the others, and when quick ben is jumping about, does he not comment about going deep into the warren of chaos, the path between all other warrens?

There's mention of otataral not being much good against Elder warrens all over the series. However Kurald Emurlahn is weakened since it's shattering, so otatarl does have some effect. This is mentioned in HOC when Heboric and Sha'ik Reborn are discussing how to deal with Tavore, her army, and her sword.

Chaos a Warren ? That's sacrilege around here in some quarters I believe. Personally I think that Chaos is the raw stuff that warrens are made out of. Of course I could be wrong, as someone will now doubtless point out :)

To bring this thread to the top:
Have there been any speculations/theories over the presence of otataral in Teblor territories?
