All the best, Apt. No better way to spit in time's face than to get epically wasted.

Digitization is often depicted as a permanent, complete transfer of consciousness from bio-you to digital-you, but I see no reason to assume bio-you becomes 'emptied' of you in the process. It could just mean bio-you and digital-you exist simultaneously for a while, as bio-you continues to age and eventually die, and digital you watches. I have trouble accepting the continuity between the 'real' bio-you and digital-you in the first scenario, let alone in the second. Could be just as grim in the end, if not worse.
Anyway, happy birthday!

I imagine that Google will build a killer robot that your digital personality can then use to murder your physical self. In a traditional sort of way.

Thanks, guys. Given today's a work day and the next 2 days will probably be spent doing renovation work, I should be fine.

I do hope you're renovating lacework or something like that because I shudder to think what a bunch of heavy/sharp tools in a half-completed house could do to you.

Happy Birthday Illy!
Will you be making an appearance in the coop soon? At least swing by and say Merry Christmas.
On a serious note though, we need your commanding cockitude here in the coop. The hens in the hen house are pecking on one another, and we need you to reestablish a pecking order. Come back, hero cock, and work your magic mike to get the coop in order prior to the next decade kicking off.
Careful when you come back though, there's a raging mite infestation among us hens (don't look at me), and everything is being whitewashed with a concentrated lime solution.

Happy Birthday "leapers". Not sure if we have any members that have a Feb. 29 bday, but I wanted to acknowledge you unlucky folks who only get to celebrate every 4 years. But hey, on the upside, you age a lot slower, so there's that silver lining. I will tip a strong libation for you all. Cheers.

Belated thank you and getting sober is probably a good thing. Although, it seriously sucks a lot too.
Meh.
Thank you and you too Ment!
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
