Nah I think HBs and TPBs usually come out at the same time, but bookstores often carry only one of the two formats. What's being done for Side Jobs right now is different from what's gone on with the rest of the series.

I'm pretty sure in the case of Butcher's work for ROC, it IS actually as McLovin has stated, with HB first, then TPB and then finally MMPB.

In SOME cases it's an "either" "or" scenario depending on publishing wing and location. For example, in Canada we NEVER get Hardcover versions of Erikson or Abercrombie on shelves. We get large Trade paperbacks as the first release, and then MMPB's only. Same is strangely true of James Rollins, who is much closer being just south of the border. Meanwhile having ordered books from the UK and having bought some while I was there in 2008 I noticed that they get the hardcover's for those titles, and with Rollins I always see his books in hardcover when I'm south of the border visiting.

Tho if I'm not mistaken the first seven or so were widely released in mmpb only long
before any hbs were made.

I dunno, Ghost Story is now out in MMPB and I don't think it ever had a TB. Side Jobs is now out in TB.

Yeah, I don't think Roc's ever released a Dresden TPB except for Side Jobs (which doesn't have a MMPB yet.)

Just finished Acacia by David Anthony Durham. VERY slow going at first, but pays off later on. I didn't feel as emotionally invested in the characters as I have been with ASoIaF (for example)...but there's some pretty decent political intrigue.

Just started The Warded Man by Peter Brett. As with The Way of Shadows, I'm liking this one from the get-go. Usually it takes me a while to warm up to a book, so I've been stumbling upon some gems recently.

Finished A Game of Thrones, now I'm on to A Clash of Kings for my re-read. I was planning to read through them all without taking a break to read any other work, but then I realized that I'll be getting Forge of Darkness around the 18th. I'm not sure if I have it in me to hold off reading Forge for a few weeks while I finish up the Ice and Fire re-read.

In other news, I'm going to give my mother copies of Gardens of the Moon and Deadhouse Gates to read on her vacation. Really hoping that she ends up enjoying the series, she's pretty open-minded and reads a wide variety of books.

Finished A Game of Thrones. It was amazing, but soooo bleak. Not a lot of fun. Still really, really good.

I've got FoD due in a couple weeks, and Courtney Schafer's The Tainted City should be arriving any day, so I'ma hold off starting on A Clash of Kings.

Instead, I'm starting in on S. M. Peters' Ghost Ocean. It's...really weird, 60 pages in.

Finished listening to Clash of Kings today and immediately started in on Storm of Swords. Loving the series. Is it odd that I'm rooting for Tyrion? Also got about 8% left in King of Thorns which I'll polish off tonight - loving this series as well. After that I think it's Feersum Endjinn and Wind Through the Keyhole.

Just finished Tad Williams' first foray into urban fantasy, The Dirty Streets of Heaven. An interesting and entertaining read, no question. But I felt that the ending was rushed and robbed it of the impact it should have had...

Went on a bit of a rant regarding the coarse language and the sex in my review, I'm afraid...

I just finished The Breach, having gone ahead and purchased it following the glowing reviews you guys have provided. It didn't dissapoint. Man, that was a lot of fun. I have ordered the next two hoping it'll continue to be crazy.

I hate this, I'm never going to finish reading everything I want to now that my classes started.
Currently on the last chapter of The Cold Commands, and dammit, it's really good. I can't wait for the sequel.
