Is re-reading some old stuff I used to like currently Hunt for Red October, a break from fantasy and sf for a while.

Waiting for my GF to finish with Skagboys, so I picked up a copy of Rainbow Six from work.
After just finishing Red October I thought it was worth a shot. I can see me getting sick of Tom Clancy pretty soon though....

Currently reading Luceno's Cloak of Deception, and so far it's pretty fun.

I liked Darth Plagueis minus a few very bad parts and the hilarious scene of DP threaten to kill a bird to show his power. I really liked Cloak of Deception because it addressed some issues with The Phantom Menace and how certain things were handled.

I finished up Wicked and really thought it was just underwhelming- really surprised it got such a good reaction. Went back to Dresden and am reading White Knight and am really liking getting back into the series.

Just completed a reread of Butcher's _Codex Alera_, and am all enthused for the rumours of a sequel series set a few hundred years after the events depicted. Steampunk Alera FTW!

Currently working out which half-completed book to finish: either _Infinite Jest_ or _Crime And Punishment_.

Both books are extremely compelling in their second halves. The plot threads take a while to get used to, but they become compelling and oddly disturbing in a way that made me want to read further. It's almost magnetic for both books and the end really is a run downhill towards completion.

I know I said that I was going to start Heroes Die after Summer Knight, but I ended up starting Death Masks (I finished up to chapter 28 before I got to work today) but I will read Heroes Die next because I haven't bought Blood Rites yet.

Really enjoying John Dies at the End so far. It's one of those can't-put-it-down reads that are so refreshing to find. About 80 or so pages in, and it's reminding me a lot of Steven Hall's The Raw Shark Texts, of all things. A lot funnier though, if necessarily shallower.

It's funny... inherently this book is a mil/spy world-wide epic cast of hundreds type thriller... America is annihilated off the map and the rest of the world reacts... poorly... and it's quite well written despite the disparate storylines that do not cross-over. That said, my inner sf fan keeps wanting more about the actual annihilation, even tho i logically know that was just a plot device to kickstart the story.

Not a bad read at all tho'. Kind of midway between Clancy and Rollins at their respective higher ends.

Took a break from my read through of The Wheel of Time at about Lord of Chaos to read Feist's The Magician, which was freaking awesome. So much so that his entire catalog is now loaded on my Nook to be read once I finish WoT...

I read a quarter of The Pale King. I keep meaning to go back to it, but DFW is like friggin' J.O. Incandenza's ghost hovering around that book to me.

Have to start over again soon because I've forgotten nearly everything.

Right now, working through Shadow & Betrayal, the Daniel Abraham omnibus, and halfway through my re-read of Caine's Law. There are notes being taken for the Stover book and will be posted on the appropriate thread.

The Abraham book is excellent. Smart, well written, enthralling and I cannot anticipate a durned thing and I love that.
