Finished The Purifying Fire by Laura Resnick and Test of Metal by Matthew Stover. The first one wasn't bad, but the Stover book was nothing but his usual badassery. I really should have known that he would have absolutely no issues writing a dimension-hopping, time-travelling, mind wiping, dick punching dragon of awesomeness. I'm more stoked than ever for the new caine book. In the meantime I finally got my hands on a copy of Fool Moon (digital alas, but it'll do till I can get a paperback).

Really digging Warbreaker at the moment. I've seen a lot of people say it's Sanderson's weakest book, but I find it incredibly interesting at the beginning.

I ended up getting Leviathan Wakes, Heaven's Shadow and The Alloy of Law as advance reading copies yesterday. Leaviathan Awakes seems a great Space Opera sofar.

Got back into LEVIATHAN WAKES now and things are tromping along in an awesome actiony space opera way. Can't stop reading it. Great stuff!

I have finished reading C.S. Friedman's Coldfire trilogy
I loved the concept. The story ended on a happy note, and manged to wrap up everyhting very nicely.
However, either this was because of my recent lifestyle (I started working again, and tend not to get a lot of sleep when I work),or its due to teh writing style, but I couldn't read these books for long periods of time. I guess the pacing didn't work for me.
I'm not sure if this is due to my own circumstances or not, because I don't remember how it ws when I read the first volume a few years ago.
anyhow, as far as less recent fantasy series go, this one is certainly fairly unique. if you haven't read it yet, i'd suggest everyone to give it a try

Really enjoyed Bleeding Orange- a book about the Texas Longhorn football team in the late 90s- great stroll through past history even with the bad writing. Now back to Dresden and Summer Knight.

ACOK, about halfway through. Funny how the first time I read this, I actually didn't like it. But it gets better with every re-read.
Grave Peril (Dresden #3), six chapters in. Really liking how this one started out. Literally with the accelerator to the floor.

Like so many, started my ASOIAF re-read today. First time I've touched these books in years. They actually had dust on them (I don't dust very often).

Indeed. It's WAY better the second time round, partially because you can now keep track of the random people you couldn't the first time they are mentioned.

Glad you liked. That series doesn't get nearly the love it deserves.
I agree that it's not an 'hours of uniterrupted reading' thing. The pace is far from frantic for the most part.

Struggling through The Worm Ouroboros, so I picked up Gene Wolfe's Storeys from the Old Hotel for a breather; great stuff. No single standout story yet, but I really enjoyed "Westwind", "Straw", and "The Marvelous Brass Chessplaying Automaton".
