You've not read ELANTIRS yet Abyss? Oh you should. Great standalone...and the reason I picked up MISTBORN. A Nice clean one-off story with some interesting stuff...and a gorgeous cover.
That said, I also have some Rollins awaiting me...I got the new hardcover Subterranean with the extra chapter about Seichan's beginnings. Did you hear they moved the new Sigma book from ...now....until next June I believe. He had it done and in, but the publishers schedule is too squeezed to get it out with any fanfare.....WTF?! Booooo!

I have the last 5 in the TRP, so it's no bother to me just yet. I liked Sandstorm and stumbled on the rest at various sales, so i'm good for a while now.

Map Of Bones and The Judas Strain are my faves, both because of the historical stuff they deal with.

Just finished Nnedi Okorafor's Who Fears Death and it's an emotionally charged tale. The post-apocalyptic African setting is a welcome change, and so is the use of African traditions and folklore. Who Fears Death is a touching and rewarding read.

Finished The Player of Games by Iain M Banks. It was a really enjoyable read and the banter between Gurgeh and the drone was especially amusing.

Following on from the excellent and brilliant Redemption Falls (think I mentioned that already ) This week I will be mostly reading Shogun. Actually, I devoured the first 150 pages at the first sitting, which I don't normally do but I was surprised at how good it was. For some reason I never imagined the language would be so...colourful and gritty. And in the reading of it I am also learning Japanese!

While travelling in Scotland I have finished The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle
It is an odd book.
Sometimes it seemed like a mixture of A Night in the Lonesome October, Book of the New Sun and Lord of Light. It was illogical. The story line was confusing. You could not believe the narrators. They either lied or spoke in riddles. The language and narration were old fashioned. I did like the unicorn though.
4 out of 10
Finishing the book coincided with visiting Stirling castle where unicorn in the dominating thing on all tapestries. Coincidence?
Then I started to read Mistborn: The Final Empire [Mistborn #1] by Brandon Sanders
1/3 into it and so far so good. Better than Brent Weeks's Night Angel.

I've said this before, but I love Shogun. I just convinced my fiancee to read it, she's halfway.
I finished a reread of MT and now I'm going to take a short break and read Wolfe's The Wizard Knight.

Re-reading The Stand by Stephen King. The Player of Games by Banks is next on deck.
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....
