just finished "A game of thrones" and now starting on "A clash of Kings" by JRR Martin. Found the first one slow going but I will percivier.

Under way with "Warrior Prophet". At the moment it seems a direct continuation of TDTCB.Although I expect new characters and themes to emerge shortly. A pleasure to read Fantasy of this quality.
Also reading Garth Ennis and Glen Fabrys brutal take on "Thor". With the "Vikings" miniseries.

Rane, Gunslinger is totally different to how the rest of the series is written. Gunslinger is a less than average book imo but the rest are pretty damn good. Read book two before deciding on the series.

so I've just finished the diamond throne by eddings. and I have to ask: does it get any better futher on? 'cause if it doesn't, I'll be buggered if I'll be spending any more time on this author. I place him with the likes of salvatore. *shudder*

Still on Clive Cussler, it is OK, but it is so similar to all his other books I am getting a bit bored. I bought Iain Banks' "The Wasp Factory" today and I am looking forward to getting stuck into that!

@Fanderay - You ever read Stonehenge? A Novel of 2000 BC! It is fantastic (writen by Bernard Cornwell, and the only book of his I have ever read. Amazing in scope and imagination.) I highly recommend it to anyone who cares to listen, but reading about your reading of England 1000, made me remember it.

You're talking about Virtues of War? Well that would be very disappointing since I Like Pressfields GoF and ToW but it wouldn't be much of a surprise after the bland first few chapters, would it?

Stopped with Catch-22. Amazing how something can be funny and boring at the same time. Anyway now halfway through The Difference Engine in barely a day, this is what I call writing. Certainly gonna check out some of Sterlings solo stuff after this (read all Gibson''s).

I have no idea where I was up to... Things have been a little hectic here, so the only thing I can remember reading lately (although I know there were more) is : The Healthy Dead (no, I have no idea what number hardcover it is...)

I've noticed that most people are torn on Against a Dark Background. Hardcore Banks fans turn away from it in disgust, whereas those who don't enjoy his other books think it is his best. This would indicate that it is somehow very different from his usual material, but I've never seen how. I, of course, love it - along with everything else he's ever written. But then, he is my favourite author
