Finished Count of Monte Cristo. Unfortunately it was not as good as I expected it to be. I believe, that knowing what is going to happen, spoiled it a lot. There are still powerful emotions but....probably the last time I re-read the book.
Started a re-read of Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb.

I know what you mean, Astra, I'm feeling an urge to re-read Lukyanenko's "False Mirrors" right now, but at the same time I'm reluctant, because I know it almost by heart...

I'm currently on 'The White Rose' section of my Chronicles of the Black Company book, so the third book in the series. The first two were EXCELLENT. So far, it's the 3rd best fantasy series I've read, with The Malazan Book of the Fallen being in first, and A Song of Ice and Fire being in second. Can't wait to finish it, then it's onto the other one I bought, The Books of the South, which has the next 3 books.

I noticed alot of people are doing re-reads at the moment. I reccently started to re-read Stephen Donaldson's 'Mirror of Her Dreams'. I read this a long time ago and remember liking it, but found myself getting bored during the re-read. And the passivity of the main character is really annoying.

So now I'm back to reading Mary Gentle's Ash. A truly great book, for anyone who wants grim and gritty fantasy [or maybe its actually SF?]

Rereading Robert Jordan's Crossroads of Twilight. Not much happening, and yet I'm not bored.

Finished The Name of the Wind by Patrick Rothfuss. A really good book and that's all I have to say.

I am re-reading The Farseer trilogy because I am planning to read The Tawny Man trilogy but I remember next to nothing about The Farseer trilogy , which I read 7 years ago. So, it is almost like reading the series for the first time.

I've just finished reading Orson Scott Card's 'Ender's Game' which I really enjoyed right up until the end which felt to me like a bit of an anti-climax... It was still good fun though and I'm hoping for more of the same from 'Ender in Exile' when I get round to that. My full review is over Here.
I've now got David Gemmell's 'The King Beyond the Gate' on the go and I'm also still working my way through 'The Return of the Crimson Guard'...

Worst effort yet by Feist I'm afraid to say.
Trying too hard to link back through his old books, doing it poorly and I've only read the conclave and darkwar books once several years ago But I've already spotted a few big mistakes

I can\'t stop.
And my frustration mounts. Too much half baked philosophy and glaring mistakes made when commenting on characters pasts (MAJOR characters at that), I grit my teeth in frustration that Raymond\'s gotten so damned lazy, a competent read through by any kind of a fan before printing would have picked these out.

Well I just finished Gregory Maguire's A Lion Among Men. I have to say not much going on there at all, the whole thing felt like a struggle. It's obvious he's trying to stretch the series out, the whole thing could have been wrapped up in a trilogy. Anyways I'm on to Felix Gilman's Thunderer, I picked it up a while ago on the recommendation of Polishgenius and never got around to reading it. So I figure I should give it a go now before I get back to the Black company books, otherwise it's going to be lost in the shuffle forever.

Finally finished "Red Seas under Red Skies" by Lynch

I can now see why so many people are impatient about "The Republic of Thieves"

up next--most likely, "Empire of Black and Gold"....

Just finished Richard Morgans "The Steel Remains" and I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for the sequel.

Also read Neal Asher's "LINE WAR" which was great and wrapped up a number of storylines from his previous Polity books.

Will have to see what else the library has today.

I am reading Richard Morgans, "Black Man".

It is very good. My only niggling complaint is the dialogue.

The characters seem more to lecture each other every time they talk then have an actual believable conversation. And while its always interesting, it kind of makes me roll my eyes every time someone has an opinion about this or that.

Morgan remains one of my all time favorite writers, mixing a myriad subjects and actions into an absolutely stunning story.
