finished the Bonehunters ... compared with his other books it left me disappointed. it felt like too much wandering around to me.
nearing completion of Fragile Things by gaiman. i enjoyed Smoke and Mirrors more but this had some truly great stories in it.

The Darkness That Comes Before - R. Scott Bakker.
Good call so far.

Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

My study timetable, with horror.
Skipping the first lecture of term to re-read parts of TBH is tempting but I'm not sure it's a great idea....

I'm attempting to wade my way through the new Thomas Pynchon...
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. finished Winterbirth, which I quite liked although I don't think it was particularly special. Now I have a choice between Ash: A Secret History by Mary Gentle and The Lions of Al-Rassan by Guy Gavriel Kay. What do you guys think? I haven't read anything by either of them before.
Sir Thursday
PS. I'm leaning towards Kay.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

I read one by Guy Gavriel Kay but I can't remember what it was called. IT is a really old one, and it was meant to be an allegory about Commmunism or something...
I enjoyed it and remember thinking he was a good writer.

@ Tiste - I suspect the book you're thinking of is Tigana
@ Sir T. - I'd personally go for the Mary Gentle, it's brilliant. That's not to knock the Kay because that one is his best book IMO.

Hmm, I read Tigana in grade eight - the library sold it to me for 20 cents. When I finished it, I used it to prop up a linen chest that the leg broke off because I pushed it against my door and my dad broke his way in anyway, snapping the leg off the chest in the process...
