Re-read the last 50 pages of "When the Heavens Fall" to see if it'd help me to clue into what's happening in "Dragon Hunters". It didn't, not really.
The stories aren't bad, but nothing's really gripping me either.

Finished Labyrinth Index by Charles Stross

I just finished Use of Weapons and my love for The Culture is now solidly cemented. Now, I have a dilemma. I only have 1 audible credit left until my yearly membership renews in Feb, should I use it for The State of the Art or Excession next? It appears that TSotA is a collection where Excession is a full novel.

Labyrinth index is 9 pounds on uk Amazon but Kindle wants me to use American Amazon where it's twice that amount. Stupid region blocks.

Not read TSOTA but Excession is a good one. It's got a lot about the minds and the ships and their discussions with each other. The ship names are hilarious in some cases.

Man, I hadn't got to read many new books this year for various shitty financial reasons but since I got back in the saddle at the beginning of the month I've been on a bit of a run of quality. Having finished Rosewater- turns out to be the first of a trilogy, which I'm not complaining about- I've also read Blackfish City, which was quite hyped earlier in the year, and is very good too. It's kinda marketed as a climate-change-based SF novel, but it's not really- a climate-change-devastated world is the setting, but it isn't the point, the story's something very different. The ending is a little abrupt for my tastes, but overall I can see why it got the attention.
Now I've started Empire of Sand by Tasha Suri, another debut, this one a fantasy set in a world based on medieval India.

I think we'd get along famously!
We'd just disagree about where to go drink and what to drink and when to drink it....ect.
And then we'd find one glorious beer we both agreed was awesome, and force the brewery to put a double stamp of approval on it...so the world would know!

This would be quite something, since I've literally never had a beer that I liked.

Towards the end of Part II, "Dragon Hunters" starts to ramp up.
There's some cool elements in that. Having a lazy police detective as one of the storylines is a nice change of pace.

Since he recently passed away, I decided to dive into more of Dave Duncan's work, and am loving MAGIC CASEMENT so far.

I'm about 120 pages into Brandon Sanderson's new book Skyward and I'm loving it! I really didn't expect much from this and I get annoyed that Brandon keeps getting distracted from Cosmere. But this is a lot of fun. Any Sanderon fan would enjoy this. Any non-Sanderson fan will not.

Haven't read anything in days and I was enthusiastic about continuing the Tower of Living and Dying...so much else to do.
Always been unreasonably fond of that series. Should re-read it sometimes.

Just finished Ninefox Gambit. Not sure what to read next. Senlin Ascends or Player of Games (Banks)?
