Toll the Hounds was a boring book and you should feel bored for having read it. Except the last 100 pages. They were dope.

The Way of Kings is awesome.

I agree. Just bought an autographed leather-bound numbered fully illustrated foil wrapped limited tabletop edition. It was worth the kidney.

Cool!

Cool! In fact, as a Mod I can make your name something that declares your love of Way of Kings and keep it that way!

I mean I'm usually against Mod abuses of power but this seems fine.

Finished The Scar and I can see why it's so highly regarded. Excellent book though I had mixed feelings on the ending. Better ending than PSS, but I'd still rank PSS higher overall. Regarding The Scar's ending
Spoiler

Also continuing on in The Emperor's Blades and really enjoying it. Standard plot but Brian Staveley is a great writer. There are chapters where I'll groan at seeing that it's going to be about another brutal training session, but I find myself absorbed as I'm reading on. I know people had issues with this trilogy, but I can see Staveley becoming one of the bigger names in fantasy as he releases more books.

Haven't had a whole lot of reading time, but when I do get some time "The Lord of the Silent Kingdom" is hugely entertaining.

When people don’t read The Stormlight Archive the terrorists win.

Also, Tigana sucks, Otherland was a great trilogy, and Goodkind makes my eyes bleed.

Just finished up Use of Weapons, the third culture novel.

It was just ok, I definitely prefer the first two vastly over it.

I didn't really like or feel drawn to any of the characters. Solid ending though. The novels structure probably contributed to my dislikes on this one quite a bit.

So, there novels in and they have all been very different. If I continue which style do I expect to see more of?

Tad Williams' collected paperback for To Green Angel Tower. Now this is a howling brick of a doorstopper at paperback size, 1000+ pages, and set in approximately 10pt type.

Anybody here read Tad Williams' Bobby Dollar books? I am exploring urban fantasy and I was considering tackling it after Felix Castor

Nearly done with Reborn as a Vending Machine... It's trash. But it's also fun. I get a sense that the author is aware that the premise is stupid and that it's overall quite daft (the worldbuilding is very bare-bones and the characters are all stereotypes) but it has fun with it and that makes it enjoyable in itself.

After this I'll probably dally with a few more light novels. I need a break from full lengths. Trying to slog through Kings of the Wyld has really killed my desire to read at the moment. I should really just avoid any novel with "Kings" in the title, shouldn't I?

I'm a couple of hundred pages into Tchaikovsky's The Bear and the Serpent. It's just as much fun as the first book so far.

I have. I thought they were a lot of fun.

Currently reading Marque and Reprisal the second Vatta's war book by Elizabeth Moon have been on a space opera binge recently and this fits right in it is very close to Honor Harrington and the Vorkosigan saga in style and type of novels so far.

The style will continue to vary wildly each is pretty different from the others within the same setting. The general pattern of special circumstances involved in a crisis is pretty much the only repeat and is there for one of the narratives in pretty much every book. Also the next one is very good don't stop where you are Use of Weapons isn't to everyones taste.

Stalled out into a book slump...nothing is piquing my interest right now...ugh, I hate this feeling.
