Depends on the day, but it makes them funnier if you do pretend they are serious for sure.

Also, he didn't have the science in front of him (I say this knowing full well you're being facetious). :killingme:

Apart from anything else he didn't have the climate change in front of him...

To get into this discussion:

About Asher's...

About climate change denial, author's personal views and their work, QT I know your opinion about this pretty clearly and I believe we have discussed this in the past. But to be perfectly honest, I have read and reread the Polity books and I have yet to find any reflection of his climate views in the books. ...

So was Asher one of those authors?

On topic, The Riddle Box is a blast. Watching Rime play detective in a locked-room murder mystery is an absolute hoot.

Just finished Half a King.
Enjoyable, Yarvi's a great character. Nothing was no bloody nine but still a well recognised character too. I see them as a sanitised version of glokta and logan I guess. But this was pitched to ne as YA abercrombie and it held pretty close to that mark. Light and quick reading but with characters and a world still well enough fleshed out to keep me turning the pages.
Will start the second book tonight

The day I added him on twitter (after reading the first of his books, the only one I was ever to read) I watched his feed and people asking him for either clarifications, or even just questions about his incendiary tweets about climate...were treated with contempt, derision, and made to be the butt of jokes. It was a pile on if I ever saw one. I've never soured so swiftly on an authors personality. So yep.

We should get back to topic though, so I'll shut up about this now. :killingme: I'm sorry I started it and got us off topic.

The Girl Who Raced Fairyland All the Way Home by Catherynne Valente, which I presume is the last of the Fairyland books. I'll be sad to see it go, but it's wrapping up just fine so far. Excellent little series.

Finally also got The Library at Mount Char to cue up next.

Aw, yeah. I think about that book every now and then.

Just bought this today and started reading
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

I have loved everything Banks has written, and Use of Weapons might be my favourite sci fi.

Back into WH40k Horus Heresy with GALAXY OF FLAMES, and I can see why people don't like it as much as the Abnett and McNeill entries...as it's not nearly as poetic or deep...but it's getting the job done well. Comments in red-thread.

Just finished Half the World.

I felt like Brand was a young dogman and Thorn a non psychotic Ferro.
Not really but I think you get what I mean. The teenage unrequited love schtick was reasonably well handled and once again this was a fun read, quite light stuff. Abercrombie does know how to write like able characters.
Onto Half a War to finish the trilogy up

Finished my Dresden Re-read. Into the proverbial "what do i do with my life with no more Dresden to read?"

Dead Beat and Changes were still the best, IMO.

Not really feeling starting FoL yet. Might jump back into Garrett Files, still havent read the last 2 of those.
I've always been crazy but its kept me from going insane.

Just finished The Riddle Box, which was great. Not sure which is my favorite, Riddle Box or Asteroid Made Of Dragons. I can now wholeheartedly recommend the entire series. Looking forward to the fourth book.

1/3 into New Spring and it's hella boring. I knew it was a prequel, but I'm shocked to see out of all the potential backstory it's this moment RJ chose to expand on. There better be something out of left field or this whole book is a waste of time.

Finished up Fall of Light and while I liked the journey, the finale left a bit to be desired. Not entirely unknown in middle books however so I can live with it.

Started up the Nightmare Stacks and it is a step up from the last one so far.
