I'm now over halfway through FoL and it's exhausting but I'm still intrigued enough to keep going. Have been away and busy etc but in reality, for a Malazan book, it just isn't gripping me!

I will keep going regardless.

Just spent 3 hours reading HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD by Jack Thorne & JK Rowling in its entirety (it's a script, so it's a fast read) and was fairly blown away. I wasn't sure if they could come up with a solid story for a sequel to the final HP book (this one picks up right afer the original books epilogue, 19 years after the Battle Of Hogwarts and Voldy is defeated), but damned if they didn't pull it off and the leads kids (mainly Albus Severus and Scorpius) are fantastically well realized!

Also halfway through Dan Abnett's HORUS RISING and after an initial confusion hiccup, I'm enjoying it immensly!

I wanna read it (and I think it's cool to get people more into reading stage play scripts) but it's frigging pricey even on Kindle.
They came with white hands and left with red hands.

Being a Potterhead I not only pre-ordered it, but also got this stylish HP tote I probably won't use.

But yeah, I don't even think I noticed how much it cost when I preordered it.

It's good if a tad short. I was really worried they would ruin the potterverse coming back to Harry however many years on but this captured the essence of Potter, if you are a fan of the originals I'd pick it up.

involved? I think that was one of the dif between bk and show? Been a few yrs since I read it but I just rewatched not long ago and it seemed to feel off.

Nope, not involved at all.

Second books the best, one and three are equal.
Very enjoyable

On pg 53 of Safehold 4 and I'm struggling. It's been boring plus I got the HC and the font is tiny so reading a pg takes forever. I looked at Amazon to see rating and my struggle seems legit as it's the lowest at 3 1/2 vs the 4 of all others.

So I'm picking up Outlander 3 a bit more these 2 days. Pg 168.

Haven't touched Expanse 5 in over a week which is strange giving my love of that series. Hell I put down Outlander 2 to read all of Ex 4 earlier this yr. the reverse has been funny.

Ando look into Outlander 1!

I need to start Safehold 4 myself.

I don't know about Outlander.... the premise seems to be something reminiscent of a portal fantasy, with romance. Portal is one subgenre I never touch. I really really dislike it. And I am not very enthusiastic about the romance...

As for my own reading update, I am about 80% into Jinni and the Golem - a book with a fascinating premise but a flawed execution, which sees the story lose its way about halfway in.

Also reading, of all things, War and Peace. About 20% in, and its a mixed bag.

Halfway through HORUS RISING by Abnett now, and it's damned fantastic!

The best bit about it so far?

These were my first WH40K reads - I think I read about half a dozen. They are pretty good.

I've heard tell that I should read the first 5 or so, and that after that I should be picky-choosy by author. So that's my plan.

It kind of blows up you know... from a pretty linear tale of disaffection, corruption and rebellion, then they start focusing on individual primarchs and other characters - so yeah being picky choosy might help. Also they are stretching it out a lot. At one time it was my goal to read it all. but now I am not so sure.

There are some genuinely cool books here - some awesome battle scenes and also some slowburn corruption narratives - that Chaos is still not known or understood makes it quite scary actually.

There's 35 some and maybe 5 duds. Some are genuinely great books (Abnett's especially), while the rest are good summer reads. I don't know how this happened, as the previous WH40k quality control wasn't always great, but the Black Library has done a solid job commissioning and curating these.

Ah, good to know. Thanks for the info guys! I guess if anything, it gives me something to always come back to when I'm in the mood for more WH40k.
