I've only read the first 5 but I enjoy Totho's sections. I hate how he pines over Che, but otherwise I find his chapters to be interesting, and kind of badass in a way later on. His chapters also sometimes feature IMO the most entertaining supporting character so far.

Finished up Blood of the Mantis and started Salute the Dark and I want more it's not really very good books but some elements of them and ocationally his descriptions are intriguiing and sometimes fairly compelling. Probably going to get book 5-10 in paper however so they will take quite a bit more work to get through.

It improves vastly if Totho isn't there being depressed.

If it were possible to face-punch a fictional character over and over again...Totho would be first on my list. Seriously. That guy brings down EVERY section of the books he's in. He's worse than Che.

Yeah...I said it.

Fuck Totho.

:p

Che at least has interesting people around her and she got some spirit (even while being entirely useless most of the time).

Totho is a waste of words so far, the only recuring PoV that is nearly as bad is the emperors sister but she's at least crucial to give us a view into the empire and dark magic stuff.

Che gets better. Seda gets.... well, "interesting".

Totho is just a mistake in every way. It's like Tchaikovsky took all of Totho's feelings of being unloved to heart and decided, "screw it, this is the one character I'll keep one-dimensional".

Finished "Iron Jackal", Ketty Jay no 3.

Enjoyed it. Fast-paced, action-packed, and lots of interesting supporting characters.

Moving on in commute reading: decided to try "Prince of Fools", Lawrence's second trilo after "Broken Empire", which I thought was ok, but not earth-shattering.

At home, about to start Part 3 of Stoneweilder. Expecting to finish it this weekend.

I'm over halfway through the audio for Gave Peril now and realizing that this is the book that really kicked things into gear. I know that a lot of people point to Dead Beat as the upturn for the first few books, but I am hugely impressed with the fact that he was able to get a compelling plot around the MASSIVE amount of setup involved here. I'm pretty sure that 75% off the plotlines we've seen so far can be traced directly back to this book.

I'm at a loss for what to read. Just finished The Broken Eye by Brent Weeks. Loved it. I could tell it wouldn't finish in this book and I thought it was only a trilogy but after I finished I found out its going to be a quadrilogy. August 2016.

So I'm after a trilogy probably. Help

I'm about 1/3 of the way into The Well of Ascension. I see what people mean about the occasionally cringeworthy YA romance moments - that said, we are for the most part in the head of a teenager, so it's more relatable on that basis.

Just finished the latest Saxon book by Bernard Cornwell WARRIORS OF THE STORM, and it was a great book for Book 9 in a series. I really feel that the 10th may be Uhtred's last.

reading "Emperor of Thorns" now at home, and Cook's "The Swordbearer" on my phone during down time. What a contrast!
HiddenOne. You son of a bitch. You slimy, skulking, low-posting scumbag. You knew it would come to this. Roundabout, maybe. Tortuous, certainly. But here we are, you and me again. I started the train on you so many many hours ago, and now I'm going to finish it. Die HO. Die. This is for last time, and this is for this game too. This is for all the people who died to your backstabbing, treacherous, "I sure don't know what's going on around here" filthy lying, deceitful ways. You son of a bitch. Whatever happens, this is justice. For me, this is justice. Vote HiddenOne Finally, I am at peace.

I know, right? Reading on a phone is so much weirder!

It really is. You're some sort of fluffy dog on the phone. 'Tis a jarring change from the candlebearer I envision you as usually.

Is candlebearer synonymous with choirboy?

One hour left in The Aeronaut's Windlass; really enjoyed this book. Great new setting and fantastic action. Really looking forward to continuing this series. Also just finished Sanderson's Shadow of Self. Still not a huge Sanderson fan but it was okay.

Also about 1/2 way through the Dread Wyrm. Excellent so far. Glad to see Cameron keeping up the good form.
