Primarily reading "Lies of Locke Lamora" and enjoying it.

Also reading the "Wall Street Journal" everyday -- takes a lot of my reading time.

And when I'm in the mood for it, "Runes of the Earth" by Stephen Donaldson -- but must say that is kind of hard to work through at this time.

Currently, Gene Wolfe's, "The book of the New Sun, Volume one, book two."

Probably the best thing I have read in a long time. It comes as a surprise that such a fantastic author has escaped my notice for so long. I bought 3 of his books when I went away, and now hope to get them all.

Les Bienveillantes --- Jonathan Littell

I decided to fully meet Maximilien Auer , of Jonathan Littell -son of Robert Littell- one person told on a forum :

Maximilien , is not really sympathic guy , I don't know right now if he is totally crazy like the person say but he want to make you understand that he is like everybody . That if he became a murderer , an SS , it was because of the history , of the events . He quoted Sophocle , Shopenhauer

Huh uh , that book interest me but I'm guessing that Maximilien is going to take me in the depthts of humanity ...

(sorry can't stranlate and that book is in french even if Littell is American he writes in french)

Damn GOOD book.
He is easilly my favourite author including Erikson. You must read his Urth of the New Sun as well. It clears up many things you may find confusing in the first four.
By the way let me notice if you see any similiraties between Severian and Jesus Christ in symbols and metophors.

I'd love to get the whole Sun cycle but they are all so hard to find.
When they say he is the best literay author in America, its actually for real too.

I am actually trying to get a copy as of yesterday. :) I bought the compilation copies of THE BOOK OF THE NEW SUN so I have the four volumes in two. And also one called The Wizard Knight. I havn't even started that though, still trying to re-read the first Sun book.

I have seen a few things that I would think of as being similar. But I will wait till I read the whole thing until I say. But I will say that When Severian starts talking about philosophy or just rambling, I get that feeling.

I'm going to try to order them through Dymocks or something ... If that fails, I got my shiny new credit card to order things online. :(

Hmm, I dont like credit cards, thats why i dont have one or probly wont get one for a while still.

When your done i'll point you to a site that shows a lot of very suprising similarities between Severian and Christ, it has plenty of spoilers in it thats all.

I've got the Knight havent started yet though, I'd still need to buy the Wizard though. You've obviously bought that big one that has both together I see.

I think its Litany of the Long Sun in two books and then there isReturn to the Whorl, On Blues Waters, Book of the Short Sun
Thats the whole Sun cycle books along with the Urth of new Sun
Its those ones that are hard to find, Book of the new sun is easy enough.

Im reading his Latro in the Mist one right now. Instead of a Character that can remember everything like Severian its one that Forgets everything at the start of every day. What happened is that some scrolls were found in some museum that were blank and people thought they were blank for ages. Some dude book the scrolls cheap and found when you look at real close at it there is ultra tiny writing. They thought it might have been some biblical texts. But found it was a Roman mercanery fighting in the Greek wars writing down his stuff so he remembers the next day. So the events that happen in the book actual happened.

Just read Raymond E. Feist's INTO A DARK REALM. . .

At times entertaining and at times very dull, the book is not a worthy sequel to FLIGHT OF THE NIGHTHAWKS. Plus, it sports one of the ugliest covers in years!

Check out the blog for the full review. . .

I'm ripping through GotM. First time, very late to the party. It's good, but given what everyone has indicated, it gets even better from here.

I also have started:

Sharpe's Triumph by Bernard Cornwell. I started the Sharpe series in chronological order, so this is only my second. Being a HUGE Patrick O'Brian fan, I was expecting Cornwell to, well, suck by comparison. I'm glad to report his does not. He's actually very good. Very amusing, very learned. My only complaint is that Sharpe himself is a pretty flat character and the really interesting things are the bits that are going on around him. Anyone else think that? Maybe as he climbs in rank, it changes a bit...

I've read nothing non-Sharpe by Cornwell, either, so I've got all that to look foward to.

Mike
