I know what you mean, I bought a Spanish phrase book with the intentions of reading Don Quixote in spanish...lets just say it didn't work and I have yet to read the book

Well, I've only read the prologue and that was mind-blowingly awesome

Just finished Raymond E. Feist's FLIGHT OF THE NIGHTHAWKS.
Well, for those who -- like me -- have grown disillusioned with Feist's two latest series, I'm happy to report that Flight of the Nighthawks marks the return of the Raymond E. Feist who captured the imagination of millions of readers worldwide with the Riftwar Saga and the Serpentwar Saga. And yes, it's about time!;-)
A very satisfying read from an author who truly needed to regain his erstwhile form.
Check the blog for the full review. . .

GRRM's A GAME OF THRONES. Hard to believe, I know!
A decade late, and I have the ARC since the summer of 1996!
Really enjoyed it, even though it lacked the "epic" stuff that can be found in other works. But the gritty realism and the politicking kept me going, chapter after chapter!
Check the blog for the full review!
Cheers!

Recently read The Blade Itself, by Joe Abercrombie - newly published in Aus, not sure if any of you have heard of it - but it was really good. Unique anti-hero main characters - at least in my experience. Looks to become a good series. And the cover is textured! :D
My dad just dumped a book called A Deepness in the Sky (Sci-fi - BAH!) in my lap. He says he reads my books, so I have to read his - I say if he couldn't stick it out for GoM, then I bloody don't have to for this! (he said Gardens was crap  )

A Deepness in the Sky isn't bad. Hard SF is not usually my thing either, but on a whim I tried this and liked it.
OK, I think I got it, but just in case, can you say the whole thing over again? I wasn't really listening.

the count of monte cristo, the neglish version - damn good, better than the movie, that is for sure...
Question:
Does being the only sane person in the world make you insane?
If a tree falls in the woods and a deaf person saw it, does it make a sound?

There is a french tv version of Le Comte de Monte-Criso with Gerard Depardieu , his son , Ornella Muti and Jean Rochefort which is good , from my point of view at least
I've tried this book but I did not understand a thing ... Perhaps I was too young ...
I want to read Donatien , especially Justine Ou Les Malheurs De La Vertu , but I say to myself 'no' snif snif

Haha, that's the thing with your posts Lily, I usually understand only about half of them, but they have enough French charm to carry the rest through...
Don Quixote is awesome. If you can, try reading it again, I think perhaps age could have been a factor...
...just like beer was in the typing of this post

I'm reading The Fourth Bear by Jasper Fforde
Bought it straight after reading The Big Over Easy
Great books. Lighthearted but don't forget that there is supposed to be a plot as well
