Going to wrap up The Hobbit very shortly. I really wish I would have read this when I was 15 cause I'm pretty sure that I would have loved it then. Now, even though I understand the importance of this book to fantasy in general, it just feels like it's only half there.

Next up is S.M. Stirling's Dies the Fire.

8% into Emperor of Thorns, 7 hrs into listening to Bitter Seeds, 3 hrs into listening to The Skinner, 9 hrs into listening to Perdido Street Station, and just downloaded Tyrant's Law to my kindle.

That's quite a mix of reading there Baco. I know that you enjoy multiple stories at once from past comments, but do you ever feel you're pushing it? Just a little?

Well seems to me that "READ IT!!" Has pipped the line on the Otherland topic.
Thanks for replying. Appreciate it. It's now on the list.

About 100 pages into DG. I'm so excited to finish this shift and get home to read it.

With audiobooks, hours and hours of the same thing can be exhausting. I listen to one thing while I drive and divide 2 between working, housework, work......etc. Then I read one thing between 8:30 - 10 and another once I hop in bed at 10:30. I look at it like watching a couple different t.v. shows. So 4-5 isn't stretching it......at least in that light.

Tiste you think the Kovacs sex scencs are awkward? I thought those were hot as hell compared to a lot I've read. Granted I've not a lot but yeah those were cool to me. Lol

The hot as hell opinion is one I concur with.

Tiste might be coming at this from an unusual vantage point as he remained celibate until marriage, so his way of looking at the scenes might be pretty divergent from ours.

Finished off The Coming of Conan the Cimmerian. Very enjoyable, for the most part. Made a start on Bakker's The Thousandfold Thought.

Meh. They seemed a little unnecessary, despite (to some extent, I admit) being a bit sexy.

Have faith, my friend!
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

You ll hate bks 3 and 4 then where Caine travels through the desert going from oasis to oasis hunting insects to eat on his quest to vanquish the dark lord then. Better bail out now.

Is the main antagonist of those books a volcano or something? If so I'm definitely out.

No, no, they just have to take a package to the volcano. Super special delivery and so on. The CareBears and SparklePonies only have a few sporadic cameos now and then, so don't worry about them too much.

Just finished Ex-Heroes. It was awesome. As always, thanks for talking it up, the book recs here are usually very good. Now I'm about to start the Ex-Patriots, and have Mark Lawrence's King of Thorns set for a reread before the newest one.

Was about to make a generic joke about a volcano on Myanus but realised this wasn't the poop thread.
