Pushing the halfway mark of Blood and Bone and man, am I enjoying it! I have no doubt it will fall apart at the end (oh, ICE) but this is easily his best since SW.

Finished The Book Thief and it was quite superb. The prose and style are just brilliant and the story is great. Highly recommended.

I finished up the final 90 pages of The Ten Thousand this morning. Rarely have I felt a connection this strong to a group of protagonists. In this case, it's impressive that Kearney makes the reader feel not just for individuals, but for the whole Macht army.

Highly recommended!

Finished THE BLOOD GOSPEL by James Rollins and Rebecca Cantrell....solid, solid storytelling from the duo. Really enjoyed the ending and can't wait for the next book in the series.

Started Brian K. Vaughn's SAGA....one of the very finest comics being printed today!

Will probably read Jack Campbell next...?

Finished Stonewielder and thought it was just OK. It was just good enough to keep me reading and not putting it down, although I thought about stopping a few times. I really enjoyed NoK, but did not really care for RotCG and SW, so I'm not sure if I'll have the desire to read any more ICE novels. I'll probably put him at the bottom of my backlog.

Finished Ochse's SEAL TEAM 666. Can only give it a resounding 'meh'. There are bits and pieces i really liked, but the story was weak, the narration shifts povs abruptly, and despite some really good setup, the action scenes are mediocre.

Next up is Hearne's fourth IRON DRUID book, TRICKED. About 1/3rd of the way in and liking it better than book 3. Hearn is really at his best writing with mythologies that are less well known, in this case Native American along with the usual Irish.

finally finished with Lord Foul's Bane, this took quite some time, as i only read 1 chapter a day, and when i'm down less 100 pages, i continously read and finished this, will take a short break in The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant,
read the Angus part of The Gap into Vision: Forbidden Knowledge, won't be reading this continously, maybe a few chapters a day, as my priority read is still Altered Carbon, i'm now on the 3rd part - Alliance, and so far it's been so good!!!

the other day, i decided to read prologues/chapter 1/chapters of most of my recently acquired books, just to feel/have a taste of their writing,

A Song for Arbonne - will definitely continue this, and other GGk books, not yet a solid fan, but i could see why he's recommendable,
Sword in the Storm - likewise with GGK, i will definitely add all of Gemmel's books,
Corum: Prince in the Scarlet Robe & The Dreamthief's Daughter - Something about Moorcock's writing i like - dark and brooding, can't wait to read all Elric books,
Market Forces - not a part of The Takeshi Kovacs novels as Abyss said, but still its Morgan,
The Warrior's Apprentice - i like this more than Bujold's fantasy - The Curse of Chalion, as the protagonist is an almost half-cripple, dwarf and even some say mutant, but likeable,
The Baker's Boy - will not continue immediately, maybe someday
Fugitive Prince - will continue, but not in a hurry, will hunt for book 1,
Winterbirth - something about Ruckley's writing and the names of his characters, reminded me of Bakker's book, and which made me of 2 minds if i will continue this, likely i will, but not immediately, good thing his book doesn't have a God-Mode like uber-poweful Monk/Manipulator,
Mordant's Need: The Mirror of Her Dreams - read the prologue and it's the opposite of the Covenant books, as the protagonist is a female who was brought to a fantasy land, i don't know why, but that prologue made me laugh,

- i read the chronology in the back of the book, so is it okay if i start my read of the Vorkosigan Saga wih The Warrior's Apprentice, 'cause technically it is the start of Miles Adventure, but it will be good if i could have and read Falling Free, Barrayar and Shards of Honor, where do Cordelia's Honor fit in the books? or is it the Shards of Honor?

I don't put Ruckley's GODLESS trilo in the same league as Bakker's DARKNESS/ORDEAL books, but while grim as grim can get, it is a decent series that I didn't regret reading.

I barely managed to finish WINTERBIRTH and didn't bother to continue the series. While I didn't particularly enjoy Bakker's works, at least I finished his series.


Anyway, I've read almost all of the other books you mentioned, and enjoyed most of them(minus the above, obviously). In regards to THE WARRIOR'S APPRENTICE, definitely a good starting place. You could start with CORDELIA'S HONOR, as well but it isn't necessary to understand Miles. I'd just start with what you already own.

I'm having a bit of a break from SF/Fantasy at the moment and have read Traitor by Rory Clements (very good historical thriller) and Marathon Man by William Goldman (superb thriller - "Is it safe?" ).

Now reading The Heresy of Dr Dee, the second of Phil Rickman's books about Dr John Dee, Elizabeth I's astrologer and adviser on the occult. The first book, Bones of Avalon, was excellent, so I snapped this one up when it was going for £1.15 during the 12 days of Kindle sale over Christmas.

Haven't read much lately. But I am listening to John Dies at the End which thus far, 1 hr in, is absolutely crazy (in a good way). I'm two stories into Stories of Ibis and I'm about a whole page into the Xeelee omnibus. It's my bedside book and I've been a little too much on the wrong side of tipsy here lately to actually progress passed that first page.

30. Star Wars, Darth Bane: Path of Destruction by Drew Karpyshyn - Wasn't sure I'd like this one, since it's so far outside the timeline of the movies...but I did.

31. Incredible Change-bots by Jeffrey Brown - Graphic novel parody of Transformers. Okay, but not laugh-out-loud funny.

32. Super Human by Michael Carroll - A surprisingly good YA superhero novel, apparently a prequel to the Quantum Prophecy books, which I haven't read.

33. Insultingly Stupid Movie Physics by Tom Rogers - Explains the faulty physics of various movies such as The Matrix, Armageddon, Speed, and JFK, among others. There's also a short section refuting 9/11 conspiracy theories. The next-to-last chapter compares Star Wars vs. Star Trek, and you can probably guess who won that contest.
