"Foodian"?
Anyway, I'm still in Moorcock's Eternal Champion omnibus. The title story was phenomenal, but the second one (The Sundered Worlds) switched over to 60s sci-fi and I'm not really feeling it. Luckily, I've got fewer than a hundred pages left, and the third story (Phoenix in Obsidian) looks to get back to fantasy and Erekosë.
I skipped my annual December Book of the New Sun reread this year (ending a four-year streak) but now I'm suddenly itching to reread my all-time favorite book--Richard Adams' Shardik--for an eleventh time.

"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

Yep, I want you all to think of fried chicken.
Anyway, yes I have an early copy. Finished copies are done and they've begun the shipping process to stores. A few bloggers were sent copies as well. I don't know how many, but I know of at least 4 others.

Every time you post, I think of KFC and South Park, then I think of that South Park when Cartman ate all the skin off the KFC him and the guys had, they decided to ignore him because of it making him think he'd died but Butters could still see him, then he begins trying to amend his sins using Butters as a medium then Butters gets sent to an psychiatrist where they violate him something horrible, then Carman foils a robbery because he thinks he's a ghost and he freaks the robbers out. - probably my favorite episode; anyway, that's my train of thought when I see you post.

Fuck now I want some KFC.
And I should probably start re-reading Jordan and try to get through the Mid-Books so I can read what Sanderson has written.(wrote? Written feels odd there.)

The next book I had up was Guards! Guards! but seeing how I had it as an ebook and my kindle broke... Well, I'm just gonna jump into Blood and Bone.

Finished _Blue Remembered Earth_ last night. For a Reynolds book, it was pretty predictable, which spoiled my enjoyment of the ending. I found the main character really hard to like, and in the end, the whole thing was a bit...meh. Which is a shame, as the writing was still top notch, and there were throwaway lines that led me to think it might tie in somehow with the rest of his books. I'll still check out whatever he brings out next, but my eagerness for his books has dimmed.
_I Am Legend_ is on hold until January, so it's back to _Les Miserables_. And over Xmas I might try to finish _Infinite Jest_, which has been gathering dust on my bookshelf after I got halfway through it.

I agree with your opinion of Blue Remembered Earth. However, you are not allowed to forgo I Am Legend, even if only for a month. It's a short book. Sit down, read it and thank me later.

Bah, it's a reread anyway, for a book club meeting that's been postponed, so *raspberry* to you, sir!

I put down SANDMAN SLIM (and it may actually end up going to the used book store and sold) as I think Richard Kadrey is simply not for me.
I realized I had more than a couple of review copy books from PYR I needed to get to, so I picked up James Enge's A GUILE OF DRAGONS (apparently a prequel to his Morlock Ambrosius books), and so far it's quite wonderful. Enge's prose is descriptive without being overbearing. Very interesting, and there is a mix between his created world and our world (aka Britain, Ireland, Paris ect. exist). Good stuff, and hopefully will tide me over till Xmas.

Reading Pterry's MASKERADE. It's pretty good but to be honest I never quite warmed to the characters of Granny Weatherwax or Nanny Ogg, they strike me as a tad Mary Sue-ish at times. But Salzella is a gem.

I've started to read the Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. I saw that he was under the other authors on here and assumed the books are good. I am not far in yet, chapter 4 or so, and still don't know if I like it or will like it.
I've also read Sanderson's two short books Legion and Emperor's Soul since I had to procrastinate during the final stage of school. Where the hell does he get time to write all these damn books? They were entertaining.

About halfway through fucking Caine Black Knife and fuck. His use of profanity is at god level. Quit listening to Pandora's Star after about 14 hrs in and still having no real idea who's who (or is it whose whom) and what's going on - I am going to give it a read though; sometimes (especially with science fiction) books can be really tough to follow in their audio format. Now I'm listening to Surface Detail by Ian M. Banks. Going to read the Wind Through the Keyhole for Christmas.

During exams I've been re-reading a lot of Perumov, to prep myself for "Godsdoom II". Got through the Hjerward trilogy, and "Diamond Sword, Wooden Sword". I repeat myself, the only person to do "epic" anywhere near as good as SE is Perumov. That city battle is insane.
While on the plane back home, I started "Prince of Thorns". Pretty good stuff so far.
once that's done, I have the third "Iron Elves" novel ready, and then, probably more Perumov.

Finished Cold Days. I'm not as enamored with Dresden as most, I find they range from OK to good. I thought this one was just OK. The series is too over the top for me. While I enjoy it, i think it would be much better if he wasn't constantly attacked and chased and he focused more on the overall back story. I thought Ghost Story was good, this one was a step down.

Found more graphic novels to devour...
and found a GREAT "fantasy-action-horror-comedy" one from Image.
SKULLKICKERS by Jim Zubavich, Misty Coats and Edwin Huang.
It's...fucking....awesome. Read the first trade (first 5 issues) as was really impressed...going to pick up the second and third trades after Xmas....(that's up to Issue #18)...and after that they are bringing out UNCANNY SKULLKICKERS (on the cover the tagline is "We figured out what our series was missing - Adjectives!"...and beyond that it will become SAVAGE SKULLKICKERS.
I'll leave you all with a picture so you can see just how excellent this series looks (please note it's written in a clever and humorous way as well).

I'm betting its the Tolkien rips that's causing the delay.

Noted.
Relatedly, If you haven't read the 7 BROTHERS yet you owe it to yourself to find the first collection.
The second was weaker, just ok, but the first.... it's a modern urban fantasy actioner comic, written by John Woo... yes, THAT John Woo... think big-screen, unlimitted budget... ninjas and magic and sorcerors and pure holydragonballsfuck glory.
Just finished Alan Dean Foster's LOST AND FOUND. Chicago commodities trader and dog kidnapped by aliens, gather allies and make a break for it. Hilarity ensues. Good fun in a light sf kind of way. I understand Foster made it a trilo - will read the rest sooner or later.
In my effort to keep things light and fluffy pending MOL, RED COUNTRY and GUN MACHINE, on to Hearn's IRON DRUID series.
