Finished Hounded by Kevin Hearne. It's an urban fantasy which reminded me a little of the Dresden Files. I thought it was just OK - it was on the border of being good, but just not quite there. I'll probably read the next two.

Finished PRISONER Of THE DALEKS by Trevor Baxendale, and though a quick easy read it was definitely one of the very BEST non-companion, post-JOURNEY'S END books in the DOCTOR WHO canon. Just a great story.

Now I've started into Bernard Cornwell's final Arthurian/Warlord book EXCALIBUR, and like all his other books things get off to a great start. Hopefully he finishes out the trilogy as strongly as he began it.

Just got The Cold Commands on the way home. It's going pretty well; the requisite amount of foul language and deeply unpleasant deaths is present and correct.

Just finished Melanie Rawn's The Diviner. Though the ending was a bit rushed, this could be her best book in quite some time.

I started Bakker's "White Luck Warrior" a few days ago and so far, I'm enjoying it very much. I don't know if it's because I'm more comfortable / familiar with the characters now but I'm finding that his Aspect Emperor series is a lot more entertaining than the Prince of Nothing trilogy was. Maybe it's because there's less quasi-religious philosophizing going on in AE? I'm all for deep thoughts and the like but by the time "The Thousandfold Thought" was done I felt like a bunch of rabid monkeys had been playing bongos in my apartment all day...twas not a good thing.

Just started Joe Haldeman's All My Sins Remembered.

Mieville's EMBASSYTOWN was losing me until about 80 pages on where things finally go a bit sideways.
It took a bit longer than i would have liked, but am enjoying this book now.

i HAVE been on a weird run of dissatisfaction lately, mostly because after the back-to-back run of THE HEROES, BLOOD OATH, TCG, GHOST STORY, DWD, RIVERS OF LONDON and then the entire CODEX ALERA followed by AMAZONIA, i have low tolerance/patience for lesser writing. Also, it's unversally acknowledged that FURIES OF THE CALDERON is weak, and that DEXTER book just sucked zombie donkey balls on a humid summer day.

But by 'losing me' i just mean i was bored. Wasn't actually considering dropping it. i have more trust for Mieville than that.

Tho the second COLD COMMANDS arrives i'm likely sidelining whatever i'm in the middle of.

Just finished Shades of Grey by Jasper Fforde. It was decent; not as great as his Thursday Next books but much better than the Nursery Crime books.
Now will possibly move on to finally reading Let The Right One In - both the new Pratchett and Cold Commands are out tomorrow here but I won't have the money till next week probably.

Yep. I read the stories along with the series in chronological order. I also read Even Hand.
