Very much THIS! I got up to chapter 11 last night and it is a pure, glorious Dresdencrack fix.
I know Jim Butcher was a bit worried about how the book would be received but he need have no worries at all, he has nailed it.
I'll post more in a dedicated thread later but this is a fantastic book.
Its not really about any flashy conflicts there are some but they are not really important to the story. Its about picking up the broken pieces and returning to some kind of new normal after several hard years and it is done well.
I think that is why it's resonating with me. I've been to some dark places over the last however many years and it's only really been the last year or so that I've got past the point where I feel I've turned a corner and it's onwards and upwards now.
It's interesting to see how Jim is writing about Dresden's dark places. You can tell he is writing from experience and I can relate, there are some parts that do hit close to home and I am thinking "aye, you know what it's like down there in the pit."
The chat in chapter 11 Dresden has with a certain someone was tough reading. But Jim is also still giving us the stuff we love with a Dresden book so aye, loving it, its an interesting read.
