I'm reading The Empires Ghost by Isabelle Steiger. It was polish I think whom recommended it some time ago. It has everything I don't like in a fantasy. Lost magic, plenty of mysterious pasts, probably at least one prince thought dead, foundlings and princesses. And yet somehow it works and I'm enjoying it immensely.

I'm about 20% into The Crippled God.

And there are threads coming together here I'd really forgotten about, as well as some straight up explanations for motives and even the weird shit with the jade giants.

I'm loving Felash. She is written in a very similar way to Envy, but I really dont care. Krugava is also a pleasure to read. What I'd forgotten was just how much of a role Whiskeyjack and the BBs play - literally taking over from Hood. It's all just coming together so well, and it's definitely making more sense that the last time I read it.

Whilst on vacation, made a good dent in "Oathbringer". 500 pages down in the mmpb now. Overall, Sanderson's pacing problems feel greatly improved, though Shallan is starting to grate a bit again.

I'm reading Orconomics by J. Zachary Pike right now, and it is plenty fun. Lots of sentences well-crafted to be clever, and a fun knock at capitalism and the world of business through a fantasy lens.
Next I'm doing some beta reading and will have to choose a new physical book, with lots to choose from:

I liked Orconomics as well. I have the sequel - Son of a Lich - in the TRP.

The Grey Bastards was fun, kinda stuck halfway in the sequel - The True Bastards.

I'll get around to reading book 2 of the John Gwynne series one day. it was OK I guess, but not enough that I had to go and and get the rest of series immediately or anything.

And my oh my but isn't Changes just superb? The ending sequence in Mexico is as epic and thrilling as anything in Malazan imo. Definitely up there as a favourite. Possibly why Ghost Story for be is my last favourite in the series...

And the finale utterly rocks.

I found I appreciated Ghost Story much more second time through too.

He even makes numerous comments along the lines of "well I'd never have the time to think about these things when I was alive." I must have missed that before. It's right there, d'oh!

It is good yeah, it's just totally unexpected. Can't really say much about it coz not knowing much is key to this one.
