Started Harry August last night. Interesting book so far

Better complete it before Friday or you'll be out of time.

Shouldn't be a problem I'm a third of the way in, will probably read the same tonight and finish Thursday.

I'm only taking my Kobo with me on holidays this time so my travel reading will probably all be 40K as that makes up the bulk of the unread section on it

I'm just saying, it isn't called Harry September.

Decided to hold off on the new Kate Daniels, and started SENLIN ASCENDS this morning instead...ummm, did you guys tell me how good this book is? I'm only like 40 pages in and I'm already 100% wrapped up in the story!

Just banged through issue 25 of Attack on Titan and things are getting very interesting indeed. I especially like how some pages just eschew dialogue entirely - the artwork renders it unnecessary.

Still got no drive to read another full-length novel.

Good to hear. I picked up the first five volumes in a recent Humble Bundle.

You may have heard a few positive mentions of it on here before. You'll be happy to hear that book 2 (The Arm of the Sphinx) is just as engrossing and book 3 is slated for January.

I did as well. Read the first one and thought it was pretty, well...not good.

(I did go through all five CBZs and rearrange things so the splash pages were in the correct order, so I'll read the rest of them someday, if for no other reason than I put that much work in.)

May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

I think Abyss was fairly ho-hum about it, but everyone on Reddit blew their loads over it after Mark Lawrence hyped it up. It's in my TRP.

Just finished Senlin Ascends and had to choose between Arm of the Sphinx or the new Kate Daniels for next read surprisingly it was a easy choice.

Senlin Ascends was good and Arm of the Sphinx seems at least as good so far.

64% into "The Devil you Know" , and I'm ready to howl with frustration at how long it takes Castor to put stuff together. I haven't checked the publication date, but I'm pretty sure "Eastern Promises" was released before this book.

The setting is pretty good, but Castor is a terrible detective.

Did not love SENLIN, but I really enjoyed ARM a ton.
That said, a few chapters in MAGIC TRIUMPHS is great.

The thing is, Castor really isn’t a detective, he’s an exorcist who keeps getting stuck with jobs that force him to be a detective.

I mean, maybe I'm just jaded, but as soon as we're introduced to Mr. D I made that mental leap.

The October Daye books by Seanan McGuire are really really good.

Started The Crown Tower by Michael Sullivan.

Also started Iron Council by China Mieville

Good to hear. I just read 4 of her books last month, and I've got the first October Daye book on my Kindle already...

I have found the series to steadily ascend in quality. First book is actually quite heavy for an urban fantasy opener

I second that. An excellent UF series with some very fun side characters (I especially love the Sea Witch). Actually, I like the October Daye books more than the Kate Daniels books.

Doing a quick Pratchett interlude — Pyramids. I like that part 3 of the book is entitled "The Book of the New Son".

Finished "The Devil you know" . That ended up pretty close to what I'd have expected. The showdown was well enough written, and it'll be interesting to see how Juliet develops. But overall, I'm in no hurry to continue this series. I'll probably wait until there's a sale on the ebooks.

For the next commute read, I think I'll try "The Iron Ship" .
