Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra - El Ingenioso Hidalgo Don Quijote de la Mancha
Kif: Sir, remember your course correction?
Captain Zapp: No.
Kif: Well, it's proving somewhat more suicidal than we'd initially hoped.

Finished Reapers Gale took about 10 hours will have to reread it once I got my thesis out of the way. It's a decent addition to the series though!

Just finished Weis and Hickman's upcoming Dragons of the Highlord Skies.

As was the case with the War of Souls trilogy, The Lost Chronicles fail to recapture the magic of the Dragonlance Chronicles and Legends. Even though it's a delight to get reacquainted with the Companions, at times it feels as though Weis and Hickman are simply going through the motions. Insofar as I can tell, it doesn't feel as if their hearts are into this project. . .

Let's not forget that Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman's Dragonlance novels have been translated into twenty languages and have sold more than twenty million copies worldwide. And yet, much like fellow bestselling authors Raymond E. Feist, David Eddings and Terry Brooks, their latest works are clearly uninspired compared to their past collaborations. Dragons of the Highlord Skies lacks the depth and the originality that allowed them to capture the hearts and imagination of a whole generation of fantasy readers.

I would compare this new Dragonlance trilogy with the Star Wars prequels. Although they'll find a way to satisfy most of the fans on one level or another just for the chance to revisit the War of the Lance, these novels are not of the same quality as the ones that came before.

Check out the blog for the full review. . .

Finished reading RG for the second time and am now reading 1984 by George Orwell for the second time (the first time was about 10 years ago, so it's good to read it again, having forgotten it all... ;))

Going through the Night's Dawn trilogy again, after lending it to my aunt what, two or three years ago? On The Neutronium Alchemist at the moment, I had forgotten what a cool character Al was.
Hello, soldiers, look at your mage, now back to me, now back at your mage, now back to me. Sadly, he isn’t me, but if he stopped being an unascended mortal and switched to Sole Spice, he could smell like he’s me. Look down, back up, where are you? You’re in a warren with the High Mage your cadre mage could smell like. What’s in your hand, back at me. I have it, it’s an acorn with two gates to that realm you love. Look again, the acorn is now otataral. Anything is possible when your mage smells like Sole Spice and not a Bole brother. I’m on a quorl.

Recently finished reading Dawn of Empire. Quite interesting, its set in the time where nations don't really exists, and villages are only just starting to be created.

The Wizard Knight - Gene Wolf.

I do hope its now all " then i did this " and " then i did that "

im only on the 4th page and its already annoying me. only another 900 odd to go
"I think i was a bad person before. Before this time. I do not try to be good now but i am not bad. Perhaps if i try harder i may get a better hand dealt next time? But surely that makes it pointless? Perhaps i am good. Just good at being pointless. But that would make me bad. Bad at having a point. Ah…. I see now. I was nothing before, I am nothing now. I am bad purely because im pointless. "

The character is really only a child, so he would relate events that way.

I'm reading The Invention of Morel by Adolfo Bioy Casares - in translation as my Spanish is quite rudimentary...

I'm also reading The End of Mr Y by Scarlett Thomas, which has one of the most lurid covers I've ever seen; the book itself shows a certain amount of promise, however.
If an opinion contrary to your own makes you angry, that is a sign that you are subconsciously aware of having no good reason for thinking as you do. If some one maintains that two and two are five, or that Iceland is on the equator, you feel pity rather than anger, unless you know so little of arithmetic or geography that his opinion shakes your own contrary conviction. … So whenever you find yourself getting angry about a difference of opinion, be on your guard; you will probably find, on examination, that your belief is going beyond what the evidence warrants. Re-reading Beyond Good and Evil by Nietzche.

He's a lunatic, but oh so fun to read.

Hornby's 'Complete Polysyllabic Spree'. Might put it aside to read 'Voyage of Sable Keech' now that I've finished 'The Skinner' though.

1/2 through third book of Earthsea.

I am very disappointed. I don't like her writing style at all. For some reason I simply don't like it. Her narration reminds me of Silmarillion, however what is acceptable for Silmarillion doesn't work here at all.

Have picked up Glen Cook's 'The Black Company' as it was so highly regarded by a few people on here...

It's getting better - but it started as a horribly confusing muddle and I started to doubt people's sanity.

Then it gets much better and clearer. Next time you are going to be confused is when you start book 7 :p

Got a load of generic looking fantasy books for my Birthday.

Curse of the mistwraith- Janny Wurts
Naked Empire- Terry Goodkind
Daggerspell- Katherine Kerr
Sorcerers Treason- Sarah Zettel
Magician- Raymond E Feist
Servant Of the Empire- Feist and Wurts

Anygood or should i politely put off reading till everyones forgot about them and buy Gemmel for a while.

Reading at the moment a game of thrones by GRRM. Apperently as good as erikson and i admit im just as confused as i was the first time i read GOTM.

Of those books, I only rate the Feist and Feist/Wurts co-authoring. And Feist goes downhill from 'Magician' to be honest. Never read Zettel or Goodkind.

The whole Rigante series is like that. I love em! ;)

Currently on a historical mystery type thingy or whatever you want to call it. It's called "The Black Sun" by a guy called James Twinning, and I guess in someways is like the DaVinci code or something. It's based on a bunch of mysteries and thefts that are related to a neo-nazi groups who are trying to ressurect the Third Reich. It's not bad...
