Fuck yes.
"Here is light. You will say that it is not a living entity, but you miss the point that it is more, not less. Without occupying space, it fills the universe. It nourishes everything, yet itself feeds upon destruction. We claim to control it, but does it not perhaps cultivate us as a source of food? May it not be that all wood grows so that it can be set ablaze, and that men and women are born to kindle fires?"

i guess i was the only one that found the girl with all the gifts to be, well....average at best?

read it before i knew there was going to be a movie based on it and found it distinctly meh.

Anyways, on topic, finished Nevernight, quite enjoyable, though cliche in places.

now on to either "The Ninth Rain" by Jen Williams or "Legion of Flame" by Anthony Ryan.
meh. Link was dead :(

I've read Heart-Shaped Box, 20th Century Ghosts, and Horns. But that reminds me I have NOS4A2 on Kindle, I just keep forgetting it exists. I'll still skip to The Fireman though cuz I have it in dead-tree and I kinda prefer that for horror, for some reason.

I've been through each of those except Heart-Shaped Box myself. NOS4A2 is my favorite this far, though I really enjoyed Horns. I've really got to get to HSB soon.

I was sufficiently impressed with the LOCKE N KEY series that I got the audio play version from Audible for near future eartime.

I think it is a great series: brutal in places, critical of society in places, with great character insight. Caine is an "Ends justify the means" character. He's what Jorg wishes to be when he finally grows up.
“The others followed, and found themselves in a small, stuffy basement, which would have been damp, smelly, close, and dark, were it not, in fact, well-lit, which prevented it from being dark.”

Finished THE WITCHWOOD CROWN by Williams...thoughts in ded-thread, but I loved it!

Taking a brief book break to consume some comics. Trying out ALL-NEW GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY by Gerry Duggan and Aaron Kuder. Stunning art, and Duggan was a recent guest on a podcast I listen to talking about structure for the books arcing narrative and it sounded amazing! So far it's great!

Going through the last parts of The Court of Broken Knives and it is just getting better along the way, probably because it was unclear where the fuck it was going for a while. The books is rediculously grimdark in nearly every aspect but still it has wonderful language and some characters that are just a joy to read when they aren't too far down in the dirt and self-pity.
