Kage read Perdido street station and Scar, if you enjoy them avoid Iron Counsil. It has its good points, but IC is just... really bad compared to the other two.

Thanks, I will consider myself duly warned when I'm hating the book. I'll read it because I kind of wanna see him go off as a raging communist, which I hear he does in the 3rd book. Plus I ordered Iron Council with The Scar from Amazon, meaning I already own it!

I wouldn't say raging:p It's slightly more politically charged, but quite a frustrating story.

Fall of Baghdad by Jon Anderson.
He's a New York Times writer. Was one of the few Journalist's that was in Baghdad when the approuching Americans came to the city. Two things that stood out the most. That is how much of an Orwellian state Saddam manage to create for the people to fear him so much. The other thing being just how little the Government made in terms of preperations to defend the city. Only almost halfway but it seems that Saddam was definately aiming for a gueralla style fight once the Americans reached Baghdad not beforehand. Also did this by putting the fighters in the more heavilly populated areas of the city.

Also just finished Black Hawk Down the Book. So much better than the movie too.
Veniss Underground by Jeff Vandermeer. Quite a chilling and Haunting Book that one.
Unweaving the Rainbow by Richard Dawkings. Was a little disappointed overall. It felt like it was just a number of random different science things just joined together by the chapters. It was still a decent read though. Looking forwards to reading his better books too Such as Climbing Mount Improbable Which is on my to read list of unread books I own.

Just finished Before They Are Hanged. If you enjoyed Abercrombie's debut, I daresay you'll love this one.

It's got everything which made The Blade Itself a good read, but the sequel is also a marked improvement in every aspect. A satisfying read, to say the least!

That series still makes me weep of outrage. :D
Prepare to be disappointed by the end.

Me, I just started reading Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell by Susanna Clarke.

Currently reading Cold Granite by Stuart MacBride.

Seriously, if you were planning to go to Aberdeen (not that you would...), DO NOT READ THIS BOOK! Or anything by him for that matter. They depict Aberdeen as a crime filled cesspit...which I suppose in certain parts it is, but it's not representative of Aberdeen as a whole.

It is very good so far though - I'd already heard another of his books, Dying Light, as an audiobook and that was very good. Gritty, gruesome, and compelling in equal measure.

Don't look now, but I think there's something weird attached to the bottom of my posts.

The worst part is, I've read the series before. Sometimes I'm so dumb I surprise even myself... :p

Just finished Salem's Lot and starting Hearts in Atlantis. Still on S. King spree. Next is The Dark Tower itself.

I just finished reading Carrie Vaughn's latest Kitty novel.

Fun, fast-paced, engaging and entertaining, Kitty Takes a Holiday should not disappoint fans of the series thus far.

Reading "We Need to Talk About Kevin" by Lionel Shriver. It's pretty good, despite the crappy title.

Hah! I got a hard on from reading that series. But I'm filthy.

Reading Mary Douglas' Purity and Danger. Getting a hardon from this book, too.

Just reading Vernor Vinge's A Fire Upon the Deep...this is a great book! I don't know why I hadn't heard about him earlier, he's going straight into my list of favourite Sci-Fi authors, slotting in above Richard Morgan (although given all the hype it's been getting, Black Man might change all that...
