Finished Sandman Slim. It was a nice bit of brain candy. I'll probably get book 2 at some point, but I have enough in my queue as it is. I started Sullivan's Age of Myth. I swear these $1.99 ebook sales will keep me busy for a very long time.

Finished Lightbringer 2. Am pausing before 3, though it was a highly entertaining book, better than the first. It's it worth continuing considering I don't have the 4th and there's no word on the 5th?
It's definitely worth continuing. Weeks does a terrific job with Blood Mirror, the fourth book that came out late last October (2016). Weeks has been good about getting his books out every couple years. So we should get the fifth some time in late 2018 or early 2019 if the pattern holds up.
I have started 3! I don't have 4 like I said so I'll be moving on to other books after this but it is entertaining!

Finished THE FORGETTING MOON by Durfee. I have some quibbles, but overall really enjoyed it. It's probably about 1/3 too long. Durfee is a descriptive guy, but his debut suffers from bloat, especially after the midway point. You could easily cut about 300 pages from this and have a clean, pacy debut...but he goes on a bit, so it weighs down some of the POV chapters. There is always enough to keep you reading mind you...but this guy needs an editor with a stronger hand. There are some weird narrative choices, and some strange character foibles...and the villains are mustache-twirling, cartoonishly evil...but overall, it's still a lot of fun. The next book neeeds to be shorter I feel. But the world building is cool and I'm on board for the next book!
Probably onto OUTLANDER 5 next, or I'll crack into RED SISTER by Lawrence.

Everybody walk your dinosaur?
Trouble arrives when the opponents to such a system institute its extreme opposite, where individualism becomes godlike and sacrosanct, and no greater service to any other ideal (including community) is possible. In such a system rapacious greed thrives behind the guise of freedom, and the worst aspects of human nature come to the fore....

I never did get to update this.
I finished Shogun. An astounding read that kept me guessing till the last. Thanks to BK for the recommendation.
I also finished Sorceror to the Crown. The book has certain plot problems.

The Myriad (and the first three Merrimack books) are finally on audible so I just re-read/listened to it. Such good stuff.

Actually, from what I can tell Book 5 is where people (even die hard fans) stumble with OUTLANDER....and for me half of Book 4 suffered from that....so I'm Not looking fwd to reading it.
----
I decided against either book, and started LORDS AND LADIES by Pratchett instead. Needed a fun, little palette cleanser book. This is serving me well...but when wouldn't it with a book that have both Granny Weatherwax AND Death in it.

finished "Bitter Seeds" re-read. Tossing "Coldest War" in my bag as next commute read.
At home, I'm a few chapters into the third book in the Inheritance trilogy omnibus, and.... i dunno. I like the concepts, and its a pretty creative setup, but for some reason it doesn't leave a lasting impression that means I have to keep reading.

I just finished reading Bitter Seeds for the first time this morning. I thought it was a bit uneven. I'd be curious to hear what you think of the later books as I'm not ensnared enough to put the rest of the trilogy on my to buy list. Mind you there's about 180 books on there so what's one more...
Yeah, I wasn't blown away by it when I read it either. Which is part of the reason it took me so long to get to Bk2.
So far it seems to continue to over-rely on a trope which I pretty much hate
Spoiler
So far, in some ways it's an even darker book than the first (characters in the peacetime get even more emotionally wrecked than during the war), but the overall plot is kinda hanging there, with the abovementioned trope I don't like supposedly dovetailing everything together.
Mind, I'm only about halfway through, so things may change.

Finished Sword of the Lictor and I really enjoyed it, moreso than the first two for sure. Even though it's the most episodic of the books so far, it also felt like it had the most purpose to it as well. Plus it happened to be laugh out loud funny very often.
Anyway, now I'm gonna read The Magician's Land because I realized I forgot to read it when it came out.
